It was easy to lose focus out here, with little stimulation but the slow babbling of the stream below. Piedwren found himself struggling to stay awake, staring down at the water and what few fish came swimming by. He was crouched on a stone near the edge of the pool, his tail flicking absently behind him. Green eyes heavy with sleep, the tom glanced at his companion. He found himself wondering what the point even was in all this; surely there were better things to be doing with their time? Heaving a heavy sigh, he decided to voice as much. “Aren’t you bored?”he suggested, his ears falling to his skull. He dreaded the thought of sitting here all night long, scooping fish out the water and wasting away. The mottled tom pulled away from the water’s edge, standing slowly and stretching his legs. Claws digging into the gravel beneath him, Piedwren yawned loudly.
He glanced lazily around them, trying to find anything that could hold his attention.“I bet Stormhowl wouldn’t even notice if we came back empty-pawed,” he went on, eyes glittering with mischief. “Isn’t there something more exciting we could be doing?”
