    Darkbird ~ SkyClan Warrior

Ears were pulled back and whiskers twitched as the tall and muscular tomcat slipped through the entrance of the camp, blinking slowly as he looked around the clearing, panting slightly. He had just endured a training session with Honeysplash, the mate to his daughter, and honestly he had so much fun smacking him around. Honeysplash was a great warrior and fighter, for whatever reason his mind just hadn’t been in the zone today and he took full advantage. Perhaps something was going on between Snowyowl and Honeysplash, their relationship was usually rocky. However, his daughter was for once at the back of his mind as his golden gaze was seeking out the familiar cream and brown pelt. Olivepetal. He purred as he caught sight of her familiar pelt, the elegant she-cat was sitting off to the side, grooming her enchanting pelt. He didn’t know when he started to move in her general direction but he was, purring softly as he flopped down beside the molly.

Darkbird was hot and his pelt a little damp from being chewed on and whatnot from the battle training. “Good morning, Olivepetal.” He greeted the molly, a smile plastered on his muzzle. The two cats had been on a few hunts together and he was growing more and more infatuated with the beautiful she-cat. “How has your morning been?” He questioned, golden eyes bright as his long tail moved to flick along her spine in order to request her attention. She often zoned out but he found he was getting better and better with keeping her attention, leaning towards her as he gently rasped his tongue over her cheek in greeting before leaning back, panting slightly from his exertion from earlier.

Lounging on the side, as she did her best to groom her pelt, as the sun slowly rose in the sky, causing it to shine into her bright blue eyes. Slowly licking her light colored pelt, Olivepetal had zoned out for a bit, only one thing on her mind. That night. Of course, she would think about it constantly for moons, as she would never forget it. It was forever etched into her inner mind, but also in her heart. Darkbird had given her the best evening of her life, complementing her, and opening her true heart. For her whole past life, it had pretty much been concealed, hiding her true self. All it needed was some..love, not that she hadn’t experienced any, but she hadn’t. Not true, heart felt kindness, and tenderness, that the handsome tom had showed her. She continued combing through the small patches of matted fur with her tongue, as the sun inclined in the bright sky,  basking her in soft light, in the edge of camp, her heart happy. Not too long after she returned to reality, a shadow passed over her for a flickering second, as her favorite cat in the world dropped down next to her with a loud purr. At once, her eyes lit up, her purr escaping her.

She felt slight moisture brush off of him, as she turned to him. Olivepetal realized the handsome tom just finished a training session with Honeysplash. She could tell he worked hard, as his slightly panting sides gave him away. “Good morning!” The molly purred back, gazing into his golden gaze. Darkbird flashed a striking smile that could make her insides quiver, and she dipped her head, and he asked her how her morning was. “Even better now,” she conceded, displaying beam, her ears flattening back. Her purr resonated , as her heart fluttered, as he affectionately ran his tail along her spine, and then swept his tongue over her cheek. She would never get sick of this, as she mewed, “How was training?” Olivepetal licked his ear tenderly, her heart swelling with joy.

The muscles along his back and shoulders were sore and he could still feel the burn in his haunches from twisting and jumping up. But it felt great. Nothing like some good exercise in the early morning to make a Tom feel younger. Darkbird wasn’t the oldest in the clan but he certainly wasn’t the young stallion he used to be. Clearing his throat, which was slightly dry from all his panting, he couldn’t help but smile when he looked at Olivepetal. She literally appeared to be glowing just by being in his presence alone, it was amazing what he did to her… did she make him glow? He certainly felt like he was glowing. “Good, I am glad to hear that.” He grinned, glad to hear that her morning was going good so far and apparently from her statement it was only getting better. His ears warmed as he knew what she meant, his gold colored gaze flickering towards her beautiful face. Olivepetal seemed relaxed and bashful at the same time, it was so adorable.

As she questioned him how training went, he was momentarily surprised but he supposed it was all written over his posture. He instantly relaxed when she licked his ear tenderly, causing the skin to warm and his mind to practically melt with a grin finding its way onto his muzzle. “It went fairly well I believe. Honeysplash got his tail handed to him.” He smirked as he spotted the two toned golden tomcat sulking within the center of camp as he was browsing through the fresh-kill pile, although his gold eyes spotted a familiar white pelt as Snowyowl slipped from the warriors den and walked right out of camp without so much as a glance towards Honeysplash. Oh great Starclan… what did he say now? He wondered curiously before he forced his mind away from his daughter and looked towards Olivepetal, his smile instantly returning. “No one has stolen you for a patrol yet, have they?” He questioned as he leaned closer to her, just being near her was fulfilling, as long a part of him was touching her. In this case, his forepaw was tenderly touching her side.

Olivepetal  took the chance she had, scanning Darkbird, studying him, seeing the damp fur matted against hers, and she purred, just loving his touch. She oversaw his sides lightly heaving, as he inhaled, and his paws kneading into the dirt, his claws occasionally sinking below the surface. The molly gave him a grin, and analyzed his facial features, which were currently positive, happy, and cheerful. Olivepetal loved his personality, as she was always striving to be like him, sociable, and content. It wasn’t that she wasn’t happy, great Starclan no, she was happiest around him, but she always idolized his good nature. She relaxed, letting the sun warm their pelts, as her thrumming in her chest steadily sustained a happy warmth. The cream she cat could stay like this all day, next to him, both of their endearment preserving, and she knew their bond was secured, as she couldn’t imagine herself happier with a different tom.

Darkbird grinned, and explained to her about his training as she then scratched the dirt with her claw, creating a tiny pattern. “That’s great. You cease to hinder your wonderful quality.” The pretty molly purred, blinking up at him. She followed his gaze, to see her clanmate Honeysplash, whom Darkbird had trained with, pad to the fresh kill pile, moping around. She peeked at Darkbird, his handsome features contorted into slight worry, and skepticism.  Olivepetal didn’t want to press him or upset at him, and he turned to her, the familiar look in his eyes, with his appalling grin, and the familiar sensation in her belly reacting again. Then, the question of a patrol came up, and she shook her head. “No one had stolen me yet.” The molly laughed, flicking her tail delightfully. She loved the sound of that, good chance to stretch her legs, and..she grinned at the tom. And to talk, and just be happy as ever. “Join me? Or do you want to rest?”  Olivepetal asked, giving him a swift lick on his  forehead, blushing.

He wasn’t aware that Olivepetal was studying him, trying to gather an idea of his peace of mind. Pupils narrowed as he shifted and looked towards the molly as her calm gaze was watching him carefully, suddenly he felt a little guilty that he had been caught gazing at Honeysplash and Snowyowl. No one knew how he felt involved in that relationship, but he did. Snowyowl didn’t even know that he was her father and at first look they looked nothing alike. In fact, she looked almost exactly like her mother except for the fact that she had inherited his gold eyes and his warm heart. Could he tell Olivepetal? Oh he so desperately wanted to, but he knew he had to wait in order gauge just how much he could trust this beautiful she-cat with such a secret. “Hmm.” He hummed as she seemed impressed that he had worked so hard in combat training, a small smile reaching his lips. To Darkbird it wasn’t that impressive, but he was determined to stay on the same level as the younger generation.

As she explained that she hadn’t been stolen for a patrol just yet, his smile broadened slightly for a moment as he gave a slight nod. “Good.” He grunted slightly, his fore paws stretching out before him as his shoulders popped slightly. Releasing a relieved sigh, he looked back at Olivepetal as she meowed, his ears standing upright in excitement as his tail lashed out behind him. Even though they weren’t labeled as mates just yet, they were rather affectionate towards one another. When you know, you know. As she quickly licked his forehead, a rough and loud purr immediately followed. “I would love to join you.” Darkbird meowed enthusiastically, shifting slightly to where he nuzzled her neck before the large tomcat pushed himself up from the ground. “Come on, miss Olivepetal. Let’s go bird hunting.” He teased as the tip of his tail gently flicked against her nose.

Olivepetal grinned, perking her ears, overly happy that he would accompany her. They had been going often, but every time just seemed better. “Yay!” The molly mewed warmly, brightening. After Darkbird  nuzzled her neck, he mentioned a bird hunt, and she sprang fervently to her paws, gaping at him. “Bird hunting?!” She exclaimed. “I can’t wait!” She put in, trying to calm herself, not wanting to act like a kit. Boy, he really has changed me alright! Olivepetal thought frivolously. As he flicker her nose with her tail, she padded after him, her paws alight with liveliness.

“So, where are we going to go?” The she-cat questioned, staring at him. The last hunts had been amazing as always, but she just couldn’t wait to see him hunt for a bird! They had often mentioned it together, while chatting, or on another hunt, causing her to be more eager and anxious to witness it. She knew Darkbird had it in him, for his handsome build, however, she was substantially smaller than him, but maybe she could somehow partake in the activity. The light cream molly inched closer to his side, and gave him a bright smile, her pelt pressed against him. She felt almost younger, like an apprentice again, but as excited as if it was her first Gathering. “I can’t wait.” Olivepetal murmured, repeating herself, and turned her head in front of her again, gazing at the trees and grasses, each paw step more excited.

Clearly he was amused with her excitement and the shine behind her eyes at the prospect of bird hunting. It was rather difficult sport to master and it had taken him many seasons to get where he was today with the hunt, probably why the suffix of his name was given. Grunting faintly as she questioned where they were going, his golden eyes flickering towards her dark hued face with a grin tugging at his lips. “We are going to the flat fields. Thrush and other birds often land in the fields and the thinning trees to collect material or feed off of insects.” He explained the reasoning for why they would gather so close to the border of RiverClan, which also held trees but they thinned out enough for tall grass to grow. His long dark furred tail swayed wildly behind him as his face tilted back to gaze up at the sky, judging the time of day by the position of the sun. He was brought out of his thoughts when Olivepetal presses her pelt against his own as they walked, producing a small smile to reach his dark grey lips. “I hope so… it can be a little hard but you are a true natural so I don’t think it’ll be hard at all for you.” Darkbird admitted as he gently pressed his side back against her own, keeping close to her as they walked through the forest.

Wasn’t long before the thick birch forest began to thin out and the forest floor began to shift into thickening grass that was almost as tall as Darkbird. He paused for a moment, lifting his chin for his nostrils to flare as he breathed in the scents around them. “There’s a small sparrow just behind that tree.” He whispered to Olivepetal, the sparrow wasn’t exactly in the grass but it was in the hunting grounds. Pupils narrowed as he pulled away from the she-cat, his movements slow and calculated. He didn’t have to look down to know where his paws were being placed, his toes splayed out for the cushion of his paw pad to take the brunt of his weight while keeping quiet. His tail was lowered to act as an anchor to keep him steady, ears standing upright as he listened to the bird use its small beak to peck at the ground. The muscles along his back and hindquarters were flexing as he stalked, but he didn’t walk a straight line, instead his movements swayed with the grass behind him, causing him to try and blend into the ever moving shadows.

The bird had its back turned to him, not even bothering to notice the large shadow getting closer and closer. Everything moved quickly, birds never stayed in one place for too long. Long black talons slipped from their sheaths on his paws as he propelled himself forward, but he didn’t plan on catching the bird on the ground. On cue, the sparrow noticed his run and shrilled in surprise as the bird launched itself off of the ground with rapid and panicked strokes of its wings. However, Darkbird foresaw this move made by the Sparrow, grunting as the muscles within his thighs and shoulder blades tensed before flexing as he pushed himself off of the ground to propel himself up into the air. Because of his powerful muscles he was able to leap at least two and half feet into the air with his right fore paw stretched out as his claws snagged one of the flapping wings for the sparrow. Grunting and gritting his teeth, his claws flexed as he dug further into the skin of the birds wing as he yanked the bird down towards the ground as he began to fall back down to the ground. As both the bird and cat landed upon the ground once more, Darkbird moved swiftly to place his free paw on the chest of the bird as he lowered his chin and snapped the neck of the bird swiftly.

He was barely panting, but his gold colored eyes were shining bright from the prospect of his hunt. Clearing his throat for a moment he unhooked his claws from the wing of the sparrow. “I haven’t caught a bird in a couple of moons. That was exciting.” Darkbird instantly meowed, turning around for his eyes landed upon Olivepetal, his grin broadening. “Are you hungry..? Have you had your morning fresh-kill?” Darkbird questioned, using his broad paw to gently push the bird towards her.

Olivepetal grinned, padding alongside her favorite cat in the world, their pelts brushing. She listened to the sounds of the birds, and outside, but excitement tingles through her paws, coursing all through her body, and to her tail tip that was curled with positivity. The two of them had occasionally mentioned bird hunting, and every time just made her more eager to experience it. Every time they talked about it, she wondered what she would be like. But she wasn’t the best jumper, but her speed was something,, however, she promised herself to not let it disrupt this, and idly pushed it to the back of her mind, but not erased.  She knew Darkbird was good at it, his build, skills, and extreme concentration. Olivepetal listened to Darkbird explain where they were headed, and she nodded, containing her happiness, but a huge smile on her face. The handsome tom described the conditions of the prey, and she bobbed her head again, stealing a second to peek up at him, studying his features. He seemed content too, a small smile splayed freely on his lips. She felt his side press against hers as she heated, mentally keeping her pawsteps in check. She didn’t want to trip or fall, being so caught up in this.
Soon, the landscape smoothly shifted into magnificent white birch trees, the sun casting a cozy luminescence through the tree’s bright eaves and branches. A soft warm glow shone on the beautiful grove. The grass level rose tall, about to her chin, and the soft rustling of Darkbird next to her made adrenaline flow through her. Everything was peaceful, calm, and perfect, the scent of prey rich in her nostrils. Her wandering awe ceased when Darkbird murmured in her ears of the presence of a sparrow not too far away. Olivepetal nodded, giving him an affectionate and encouraging lick on his cheek before he glided away from her, his movements precise and strategic.  You’ve got this Darkbird! The cream she cat thought brightly. The molly watched, transfixed, mentally trying to take notes and shots, but her heart fluttered, and her eyes followed him, her body still and silent. She watched Darkbird skillfully coast forward, the grass barely parting, his tail completely still. He was very much obviously proficient in this hunting, endorsed on concentration,as his movements and actions seemed flawless. She tried to picture herself doing this but inwardly laughed. No way she could be this good!
Olivepetal noted the bird was luckily turned away from Darkbird, oblivious of it’s fate. Before her eyes in a flash, the she cat watched in amazement as the broad shouldered grey tom flashed out of his crouch, instinctively bolting to the bird, but the sparrow had taken off, it’s wings fluttering in surprise, letting out a shriek of terror, as it attempted escape. But the unlucky prey’s fate wasn’t so bright as Darkbird seemed to have expected this action, while he leapt up, kicking with his powerful legs in the air. She gaped as the tom unsheathed his claws, hooking the bird by it’s wing, dragging it to the ground, with a thud of his paws. “Wow!!” She gasped, dashing to his side as he successfully finished the prey off. “Darkbird that was incredible!” Olivepetal exclaimed, her tail whisking back and forth in delight. “You’re the best bird hunting cat in all of the forests!” She purred, gazing into his eyes, which were  alive with pride, and satisfaction. Olivepetal couldn’t help herself as she licked his shoulder, pulling back. “A couple moons?” She gawked at Darkbird. “You’re by far the most talented cat I’ve ever met.” The cream colored molly praised him, her smile warm and bright. His next question made her exhale pondering this inquiry. Her head was whirling fast paced in this excitement, as this morning that seemed bland and boring slipped her mind.  “No, I haven’t.” Olivepetal mewed, frowning. “And you’ve definitely worked up my appetite!” The Skyclan she cat circled him, giggling, as she reached her head down, taking a small  bite. It was delicious as the thought shone on her eyes, and she savored the taste, happily flicking her ears. Olivepetal couldn’t have been happier at the moment.

He hadn’t forgotten about the encouraging lick that Olivepetal had placed upon his cheek, for the skin still burned from the heat of his blush. Golden eyes lifting as he looked towards the she-cat instinctively seeking her out as his smile broadened as he noticed that she had rushed up to him in pure excitement at his catch. Lucky for him he had caught it, honestly he had been so nervous that he could have possibly missed the swipe at the bird. Olivepetal’s lick at his cheek had his mind clouded and it had taken everything within him to just concentrate on the bird. Darkbird felt relieved that he had somehow managed to impress the molly, perhaps now he could continue living up to his name. A chuckle slipped from his lips as she exclaimed that he was the best bird hunter within the whole forest, causing his ears to fall back against his head in a bashful manner but he cleared his throat out of embarrassment. “Thank you, Olivepetal…. but I’m sure I’m not the best.” He answered softly, but silently he hoped she was right, he had worked very hard for that title. She seemed pleased with him as she leaned forward and licked his shoulder blade, causing a small shiver to rush down his spine, the fur along his back sticking up slightly from the sensation. Olivepetal was making it almost impossible for him to keep his distance and keep from smothering her. Last time he was that close to a molly… she kept his kits away from him.

Her blue eyes were bright and held nothing but such a gentle light, which crippled the walls around his heart and mind. She was becoming a quick weakness for the Tom and honestly he didn’t mind. It was exciting and reckless. Darkbird realized he must have been staring and gave her a quick smile and a nod, ears twitching with her words once more as his face heated up. She was praising him and it felt… good. Clearing his throat, he stepped forward, ignoring the screaming within his head as he gently ran his tongue along her cheek and brow. “Thank you, Olivepetal.” He spoke softly, his nose tenderly nuzzling against her cheek before he pulled his head back with a smile. Darkbird laughed softly as he watched her expression change, instantly becoming thoughtful as she tried to remember if she had eaten this morning and clearly if one had to think about it, he knew she hadn’t. “Alright. Alright… I suppose I’ll let you have this one for free.” He snickered playfully, moving out of her way so she could eat. His adrenaline and emotions were coursing swiftly through his body throughout the day and had stifled his appetite. So he moved to where he was laying down near Olivepetal and her meal, flopping down in a rather ungrateful manner and a grin. “I don’t know about you.. but I’m beat.” He teased, his veins were thrumming with energy but he wasn’t about to take off and leave his beloved behind, instead he lowered his chin and licked casually at his chest; trying to keep from staring at her beauty.

Happily smiling, she lifted a paw enthusiastically to Darkbird’s comment about himself ruling the bird hunting skill in the forest. “Well perhaps I think you are anyway.” Olivepetal purred., swishing her tail softly in a positive submissive way. When Darkbird rasped his tongue over her cheek, she instantly felt her heat spread up to her cheeks, but there was another feeling mixed in that she couldn’t describe. maybe not exactly a feeling but a thought. Not wanting to slip off of from the present, the she colored molly game a warm smile in return, her beautiful blue eyes sparkling against the soft dark shade of her face. After the broad shouldered tom gave her permission to consume the sparrow, Olivepetal nodded with a small fervent dip of her elegant head, and inwardly laughing at herself for being so energetic for just one sparrow. But it was a special sparrow, caught by the tom she admired, and her loving clanmate. A slight tickle shivered it’s way down her spine, her grin vibrant as Darkbird joked around, causing her to produce a sweet giggle.  “Thank you,” she smiled and bent her head down softly sniff the prey, and the inhale brought immediate flavorful and savory tastes to her parted jaws.  Olivepetal felt her stomach emit a quiet growl, and she opened her muzzle ever so slightly wider to take a good bite out of the sparrow. The warmth of the recent catch flooded her mouth, causing to close her eyes briefly in gratification. The sparrow was delicious and she just couldn’t deny it.
Once she had taken and swallowed her third bite, she lifted her brow to Darkbird. “Great Starclan, you hunted the best tasting bird out here!” She chuckled. The molly dipped her head, pushing the sparrow closer to him with her tail, “You have to try it. It’s really good.” Olivepetal pressed lightly, sitting back as the tom flopped down. She grinned, pinning her ears back for a moment in enjoyment. The grey tom let out a sigh, but his golden gaze twinkled as he explained he was weary. To be honest, she was a little herself, but overall the cream she cat was still pretty lively, knowing she wasn’t one to fall asleep or nap at this time. This was perfect, just the two of them. Bird hunting, and chatting away, one of her long desired ambitions finally achieved. Remembering when the tom first brought up the proposition and topic of a bird hunt and ever since then..she had itched to go on one. She glanced at him for a heartbeat as he drew his tongue across his chest fur, grooming it. Olivepetal glanced down ad her flank and coat, realizing it was somewhat rather clean. Oh right. She had just groomed it earlier. The molly let out an airy sigh, turning her head to scan the trees, the mighty trunks thick and looming above the tall grass, making her feel small. But she also felt protected, and safe. Especially when she was with Darkbird. “It sure is lovely here.” Olivepetal murmured, blissful and caught in the moment.

He was highly amused when Olivepetal lowered herself to take a sniff of the bird, her eyes brightening as she finally lowered her slender form to the ground so she could devour her morning meal. Slowly he looked away from her as his long tail rattled behind him, his golden gaze slowly flickering around the area as he listened to the soft calls of birds flying about in the trees and over the canopy. Ears twitched in Olivepetal’s direction as she exclaimed just how tasty the sparrow was, a grin rising to his face as he finally turned his chin to gaze at the she-cat, watching as she pushed the bird towards him. “I believe it’s you, who should be eating.” He smirked slightly, but her smile and brightness of her gaze was enough to break him as he reached out a broad paw and pulled the bird the rest of the way towards him. Lowering his bug head, Darkbird took a bite out the birds breast meat, pulling backward as he ripped the muscle off of the bone, chewing away at the tendon. Olivepetal hadn’t been lying when she said he had caught the tastiest bird, must have been a very young adult. After he swallowed his mouthful, his tongue lapped at the blood and juices around his muzzle as he pushed the bird back towards Olivepetal. “That was really good! But you can finish it.” He meowed softly.

Resting back against the ground, he watched the molly before him for a moment before he felt his anxiety beginning to claw at his chest once more. But as Olivepetal spoke, his focus was trained on her expression as she looked around the area, she seemed genuine as she examined the green leaves ontop of the grey and white streak birch trees. “Yes, lovely.” He muttered softly, but his focus wasn’t on the forest, it was on that of Olivepetal. He was still hesitant to act on any feelings because of his previous relationship, but that was so long ago… perhaps he should just forget. He pushed himself into a standing position, padding closer to Olivepetal as he slowly lowered himself beside her. His pelt pressed against hers as he turned his head and began to gently groom the fur along her spine, nostrils flaring as he breathed in her sweet floral scent. It was intoxicating to him. “Do you want to try bird hunting?” He asked in between strokes of his tongue, but honestly he was enjoying this tender moment.

Olivepetal grinned as he said she was the one to eat, but she somewhat had the feeling she had Darkbird hooked and interested. She watched his eventually drag the thrush over to his area, with a claw, as he had a grin on his face. Almost as is he had said, ‘You win.’ She smirked back, glad he could take a decent sized bite of the delicious prey. Noticing his facial expression morph into content, he must have thought it was good, as he swiped his tongue over his muzzle. Once he stated she could have the rest of the excellent prey, she widened her eyes, and inhaled, “Thank you!” She soon lowered her head and quickly taking a bite happily. Once again, the strong, warm, and appetizing flavor bloomed in her jaws as she swallowed eagerly, but trying not to gulp it down too fast. Once she has ripped the final tendon from the thrush’s small body, Olivepetal licked her jaws, calm, and peaceful. A movement beside her happened to be Darkbird reclining next to her, his bask pressed against the ground. When the tom mentioned it was lovely, she could only ‘Mm’ her agreement, with a small nod as she laid down near him. Nothing at the moment, anything at all really could have been better. Just like this, the two of the on their back in a beautiful grove. The fireflies from not too long ago drifted back in her mind, and suddenly she was so glad to have Darkbird. If they weren’t this close..then she’s probably be alone somewhere in camp. How depressing. She thought.

As Olivepetal laid beside him she felt his get up and press his coat against hers, and she shifted and closed her eyes as he skillfully groomed her pelt, causing her to close her eyes. A soft but resounding purr escaped her and she felt lost in the moment. Dang, she never had groomed herself that well- Darkbird next question, about bird hunting made her flick her head up slightly in surprise. Bird hunting!?  Wow!  The recent bird hunt had made her super excited, but she still wasn’t sure if she was experienced enough yet. Bird hunting was something she had always wanted to experience, but the tom’s long and soothing strokes of his tongue were so comforting and she never wanted them to end really. The cream molly didn’t even remember when she was groomed so well..maybe when she was a kit. “Bird hunting? Now?” Olivepetal mewed, clearly relishing Darkbird’s smooth strokes. “I’m not sure if I’m ready yet.” The molly admitted with a loud purr, and she closed her eyes again.  Seeing today how skillfully Darkbird had caught the bird even as it was just about to flutter out of reach, she still needed practice..or training. Soon, she shifted her body so she reached her neck easily to softly groom Darkbird’s flank, rasping her tongue over his long grey coat. His pelt wasn’t too dirty, but she managed to free it of some tiny clinging flecks of dirt. Olivepetal could feel the tom’s muscles underneath her strokes, under his though dark coat. She inwardly blushed as her lack of muscle as she was more of a petite cat..more slim.

Darkbird was more than pleased when Olivepetal dug into her meal, clearly she had been hungrier than she had been letting on. He said nothing though as he allowed her to eat her meal in silence while he groomed her pelt. Honestly, Olivepetal’s cream varied pelt was very well kept and was smooth and silky, but it gave him an excuse to be so close. His tongue was moving in slow and gentle strokes as he swiped it along the curve of her back and flank, helping the molly get rid of the shedding fur that was once her Leaf-Bare coat. Even using his teeth here and there to get rid of the occasional knot of loose fur that was desperately trying to cling to her coat in the last attempts of staying attached. Nope. He smirked as he got rid of the small knots, his nose lightly brushing against her flank as he breathed in her floral scent. Honestly, he could get drunk on her scent alone, but now it was all over his face from the grooming session and it caused his cheeks to warm up. As she spoke about the bird hunting, he could hear the soft whine within her tone as she didn’t sound too pleased to leave her grooming session. Chuckling he lifted his head and swiped his tongue over her cheek. “Okay, perhaps for a little longer.” He promised as he went back to grooming her pelt while she purred loudly, causing him to smile. Clearly he was doing something right.

He blinked in surprise when she eventually shifted to where she was now grooming his pelt, a deep blush overtaking his cheeks and ears to cause his face to feel scorching hot. Thank StarClan for fur! Darkbird hadn’t been groomed by a molly in so long, he forgot just how much of an intimate thing it was. Slowly he breathed in and out for a moment before he closed his eyes at the feeling of the long strokes she provided along his long coat, soothing the fur down and calming his sore muscles. Darkbird was unaware of her inward blush at the fact that she was slimmer than he was, but honestly he preferred that. She was muscular to her body type and beautiful in every way, unlike his previous mate. Mate… The word resounded in his mind, he was getting more and more attached to Olivepetal and honestly he was finding her to be like his mate but the question or topic had never been mentioned. It was definitely a sore topic for him, but he was getting one step closer everyday to healing. Slowly he cleared his throat and opened his eyes, gold hued optics peering curiously at Olivepetal for a moment as he watched her groom his pelt. She was so gentle and was making sure to follow the layout of his fur so it wasn’t fighting the movements of her tongue. Slowly he leaned towards her and rasped his tongue over her ear in an affectionate manner, unable to help himself. “Olivepetal… forgive me for asking such a personal question. But… h-have you ever had a mate? Or do you have one now?” He stumbled slightly over his words, his ears flattening in embarrassment. Perhaps he should have thought about those questions before getting so close to her, but he was fairly sure he knew the answers.

    Olivepetal- Skyclan Warrior

A happy and satisfied purr clouded slightly in her throat as Darkbird agreed for some more time, with a rasp of his tongue. “I’m glad. I love this really.”  Olivepetal babbled, as she felt a soft breeze shift the tall grasses surrounding them, some towering over them, their skinny stems slightly bending. The warm sun peeked up from above the tall birch tree’s mighty branches, cascading warm light occasionally on the two Skyclan warriors. The feeling of the tom’s warm tongue smoothing her fur brought back memories from the nursery. But to be honest with herself, she much more enjoyed this. By far. The experience was much for enjoyable as she wasn’t cooped up in the warm nursery, as instead the molly was peacefully relaxing in a gorgeous grove. And to top it off, Olivepetal had witnessed an exciting bird hunt, which she would never forget. This moon, including others seemed to be just filled with amazing  memories of her and Darkbird. The molly soon blinked out of her zone out, but she had to admit, it was a nice one. She continued contently grooming the tom’s pelt, loosening the small, but sturdy knots. Once she felt the last stubborn knot in his dark coat smoothed out, she grinned, as some sun filtered through the trees, splashing on their pelts.
Olivepetal once again let her mind wander as Darkbird continued to stroke his tongue along her flank, occasionally lightly tugging as shallow kinks in her own cream fur, as her purr rumbled through her small chest. She reminisced about the time, not too many moons ago, recently when the handsome tom and herself had the amazing experience of the fireflies. The almost magical occurrence had never left her mind for a second, as it was one of her favorite ones to recall. Olivepetal imagined the fireflies again, over the vast trees that had laid below. If anything, it seemed she had been on the top of the world. The closeness, and their conversation. but it really felt like..actually, feels like Darkbird is the closest cat to her. The molly thought, about technically, she was a pretty lonesome cat. Her parents..both gone, and she was the only of her mother’s litter. And just wandering around camp, and being quiet didn’t help her cause. Olivepetal knew all these things as they often ran through her head, but these days, Darkbird had really shifted it. The cream she cat purred louder, as she rasped her tongue again over his flank.
The Skyclan warrior raised her elegant head as she felt Darkbird lift his own head from his soothing grooming, to offer her a swift lick on her cheek, making her smile. She tilted her head as he slightly stammered the words that made her heart race, as soon as he was finished. “Oh-“ Olivepetal blinked, giving a suppressed chuckle. She was neither offended, or hurt, yet it was a topic that startled her, yet made her heart race. Her mind was a flurry but she kept it somewhat well kept. Her chest rose a little as she inhaled, and gave her head a slight dip, embarrassed. “I’ve never had a mate before no.” Olivepetal replied gently, her thoughts calming as she got the words out, lookint into the tom’s eyes. Olivepetal inwardly questioned herself. Why have you never had a strong relationship? Well, it was pretty obvious as the other toms really didn’t talk to her much, as she used to be one of the quietest cats in Skyclan.  But for Darkbird, to have asked her this, blew her away, but something..flared inside of her. After all, he was the only tom she was close to, and really spent much time with. The molly had felt something click, or maybe just their bond strengthen immensely. Mentally smoothing her fur, the she cat also reminded herself that Darkbird had had a mate before too, and he’s had kits. He was really the one who had had a mate..she was really the inexperienced one. It sounded funny a little in her head, but it didn’t bother her, because she only hoped he was happy too. “I guess I can say I am unacquainted.” She blurted, a shy smile forming on her lips. But..there was something else she wanted to say, but Olivepetal bit her tongue, not wanting to make a fool out of herself.

    Darkbird ~ SkyClan Warrior

He could see the surprise flash throughout her crystal blue eyes at his stammered question, but he felt like it was important to ask. Clearing his throat slightly as she blinked at him, clearly she was trying to gather her thoughts together in order to answer his sudden questioning. Maybe that was too straight forward… Darkbird felt like smacking himself in the forehead with a paw, but he forced himself to appear calm and relaxed. Ears stood upright for a moment as she explained that she had never had a mate before and he slowly nodded his head. Darkbird himself had a mate for a short time period a long time ago, however the relationship had been poisonous and hadn’t been good for his mental health. Although Snowyowl’s appearance gave him random heart attacks as he was brought back to Birchberry’s appearance, the young she-cats resemblance to her mother was uncanny. Not many knew of Birchberry’s poisoned tongue, but he knew all too well and since her death… he felt truly free. Olivepetal was so much more pure than that she-cat, although he wasn’t much for reading cats, he wanted to feel that Olivepetal was different. “There’s nothing wrong with that.” He assured Olivepetal as she held a strange facial expression, while he chewed on the inside of his cheek as he felt like he had backed her up in a corner and possibly offended her.

Glancing away for only a brief moment as he looked around before his eyes found her face once more, listening as she confirmed that she was not currently being courted by anyone. However, Darkbird planned to change that as he cleared his throat again and couldn’t help the relieved smile that appeared on his dark lips. “I know I shouldn’t look so relieved by that but I am.” He admitted with a small smile, his cheeks burning slightly until he noticed the look he was receiving. Chin tilting for a moment as he gently lifted and lowered his muzzle in a slight nod. “You look like… you have a question.” Darkbird worded carefully, he wasn’t entirely positive but her brightly hued eyes were slowly moving over his face and looking away as if something were on her mind… honestly it was picking at his curiosity.
