    DarkBerry ~ ThunderClan Warrior

She stretched out her form upon the tough, cold ground. Allowing the chill that had sunk deep within the earth to cool her skin as the cold seeped through her thick pelt. Strangely enough she found comfort in this, gently lowering her cheek to press it upon the cold dirt in order to relieve some of the heat that her body was holding within. During the colder months her pelt was thick and didn’t allow the cold breeze of Bare-Leaf to grace her skin, but in New-Leaf her coat would shed and reveal a thinner coat. For now, stretching upon the cold ground was heavenly enough. Eyes closed briefly for a moment, the tip of her tail twitching in contempt, her eyes only opened when Tigerstrike flopped down onto the ground, a thin rabbit flopping about under his jaw. Just the mere sight had her stomach rumbling quietly, the pains of hunger gnawing at the back of her throat before she cleared her throat and looked up at the tomcat as he quickly ripped off a hind leg of the rabbit. Clearly he needed the door more so than she really did since he was close to twice her size in weight, but she purred softly when he pushed the rabbit in her direction.

Straightening out her figure, she used a small and delicate like paw to pull the rabbit over to her chest, lifting her other paw to press against the chest of the rabbit to keep the wee critter still for her to dig into the breast. Dark amber eyes flashed towards the striped tomcat as he mentioned that his appetite had only grown as he did, causing her to smirk with amusement for the moment. “Tigerbelly… does have a nice ring to it.” She grinned, shifting in order to use a paw to poke at his belly, which was anything but soft. In fact his stomach was hard with muscle, which caused her cheeks to warm up before her attention went back to the prey at her chest. “Your belly is soft enough.” She sneered playfully, the tip of her tail lightly flicking at his flank before she lowered her chin, teeth nipping at the skin to the chest of the rabbit, pulling the skin back in a slow yank as not to tear the meaty flesh below. Finally she was able to take a bite out of the tender flesh to the breast, tearing muscle and sinew in order to get her price. Juices flowing over her tongue from the meat caused her to groan, ears lowering as she relaxed. There was finally something in her stomach. Keeping an eye on how quickly he ate the leg, Darkberry continued to take bites out of the chest of the rabbit, he could have the other thick hind leg, but he would have to work for it. She didn’t hand over prey easily, especially to a tom who liked to tease. She smirked slightly for a moment, while running her rough pink tongue over her ivory lips.

    Tigerstrike, ThunderClan warrior

Tigerstrike felt like a ravenous wolf compared to his counterpart. He heard her rip into the meat with grace, picking every bit from the bone. He cared little for such elegance. His mother would scold him for how he ate as a kit. She claimed that’s why he was so hungry, even after he ate; he wouldn’t slow down to let it digest. The warrior bit straight into the leg, paying no mind to the bone. It cracked clean between his powerful jaws, and the marrow only added a savory softness to the tender meat. Within a minute, the fat leg of the rabbit was gone, leaving him to sniff at his paws in search of anything left. A few swipes of his tongue cleaned the blood and juice.

Her teasing was…cute. A small smirk curved onto his lips and he raised a brow at her. “I thought cats named -berry would be nicer,” Tigerstrike commented. “You must have been named for a holly.” Poisonous, bitter, yet somehow incredibly beautiful. Yet, he didn’t add that on. He noticed the unease in her eyes, as if she were planning to finish off the rabbit herself. She got the whole thing and he only got a leg? He didn’t think so.

The brown tabby tom unsheathed his claws and slapped a large paw on the rear end of the rabbit. He hooked his black talons into the rodent and pulled it close. His golden eyes sparked with amusement and he buried his teeth deep into the other hind leg of the rabbit. With a soft, warning growl, he bunched his muscles, then yanked sharply to dislodge the other leg from it. He protected the part he harvested between his two forearms, a wide smile on his muzzle. A warmth flooded through his chest as he started to eat again. He recognized it. He typically felt this sort of respect for senior warriors or leaders – but Darkberry was fierce and she could keep up with him. She didn’t let him pick at her.

    She wasn’t so bad.

    Darkberry ~ ThunderClan Warrior

She took small and generous bites out of  the breast to the rabbit, enjoying the blast of flavor that the young hare provided deep within the meat. Grunting faintly for a moment as her dark amber eyes flickered towards that of the tomcat for a moment as he gave her a look. She smirked softly when the Tom mentioned that felines with the suffix of Berry were usually sweet. Darkberry smiled for a moment before she shifted to lean more to the right as her lips pulled over her white teeth. “Careful, Tigerbelly. Holly’s are known to be poisonous…” She snickered looking towards the shards of bone that speckled the thick fur of his broad paws. Leaning down she took a shattered piece of bone into her mouth, chewing slowly on the tough bone and marrow while her dark eyes watched the Tom in amusement.

“Wouldn’t want to stir my wrath.” She finally grinned, having chewed and swallowed the bone while she turned her chin back towards the rabbit with a soft smirk. Tigerstrike brought out her inner playful side and helped her forget the worries she had with certain Clanmates. Slowly she lowered her chin as she began to tear the flesh off of the breath of the rabbit before she felt a tug on the rabbit. Lifting her chin, her eyes narrowing on the tomcat as he snickered and then took hold of the rabbits leg. “Oh no, you don’t.” She laughed, pulling the rabbit back for a moment but that only helped his case as he gave a small and gentle warning growl while ripping the leg off of the rabbits torso. She gasped, her lips parted while her pupils narrowed for a moment before a dainty paw lightly smacked against his shoulder blade. “How rude.” Darkberry laughed.

Shaking her head, she looked back towards the rabbit, although her stomach was beginning to feel heavy with the meat. Grunting for a moment, she ran her tongue over her lips as she looked at the handsome tomcat as he tore through the rabbit leg. “Slow Down,  you’ll give yourself an upset stomach.” She teased, grinning nonetheless as she used a small paw to gently push the rest of the rabbit towards Tigerstrike. “Oh I’m so full.” She whined, stretching out her slender form while still laying down.

    Tigerstrike – ThunderClan Warrior

This felt good. Typically, he ate alone or scarfed down a meal on his hunts. He hated dragging something back to camp to eat, because the others ate together. He would eat alone, at this very spot, and return to his job as hunter, builder, babysitter, or whatever the Clan needed him to be that day. He liked this. He liked the company this she-cat brought with her. Young warriors had the world on their shoulders. To his Clan, had something to prove; with Darkberry, he had nothing to prove. He was simply here, a friend to speak about whatever was on their mind. “Full? You barely touched it.” He teased to her as he – despite the ache in his belly – continued to wolf down the rabbit. He finished once every bone was crushed beneath his jaw and the meat was stripped from the inedible parts of the carcass. All that was left was shreds and patches of the rabbit’s fur.

Tigerstrike thoughtfully twisted the bloodied fur in his paws. Perhaps he would go wash it in the river later and leave it on Darkberry’s nest. Would she think of it as a thoughtful or disgusting gift? He thought rabbit fur was soft and comfortable, especially in leaf-bare months. He would take a risk. Hopefully it would be worth it. The tabby tom looked to her with a smile and flopped on his side to look at her as well. He stretched out on the Earth, a purr rising in his chest. All was well. The forest was peaceful, his belly was full, and a friend was made.

“We should do this again. Or occasionally. You know, hunting or eating together – whichever. I…liked having a friend today.” Tigerstrike’s amber eyes were soft as he gazed at her. “Thank you for a fantastic day, Darkberry.”
