Snarlingbadger ~ ThunderClan Warrior
A cold chill had over taken the valley, mist and fog always decorated the land in the early hours of morning, small frozen drops of dew hung from the silky black fur along the warriors legs. For now the temperature was close to freezing point in the early morning but it would warm up during the day once the sun was high above them, granted that the clouds didn’t block out the heat. Leaf-bare was always rough, but the clan cats seemed to make it through. Snarlingbadger has been on a early morning hunting patrol, although there hadn’t been much to catch this morning due to the temperature, he had been able to catch a small blue jay that hadn’t flown to the south for leaf-bare. Pupils narrowed in on the medicine cat den, his throat constricting as it reminded him of the pain he had been experiencing for the past two days, with the old damage to his throat and vocal cords, cold mornings and days were torture to him without a little bit of honey.
Snarlingbadger had been avoiding the medicine cat for quite some time now, ever since they argued and Peachblossom had run off when she was an apprentice just to get away from him… they both had stopped talking and seeing one another. Although he could not lie, he still loved the little ball of fuzz, but he didn’t agree with her aggressive nature and the meetings she had organized with the apprentices of the clan to harm a certain deputy. Although today the pain in his throat was almost too much for him to bare, wincing as he tried to clear his throat of the mucus that now coated the inner lining of his throat. Groaning in annoyance, the large black and white tomcat talked himself into walking towards the dark entrance.
Hesitating for a moment, his nose twitched with the scent of cream and peaches, eyes closing for a moment as he savored the scent. Slowly opening his eyes he stepped into the den, pale yellow eyes narrowing in towards his pupils as his sight adjusted to the darkness of the den, spotting the cream colored she-cat near the back of the den. His breathing hitched slightly when he saw her, of course he knew she had grown and matured since they had seen each other formally, she was slightly taller and her peach fuzz was gone, replaced with a silky coat and her body was no longer chunky with kitten fat but sleek and slender. His cheeks grew warm for a moment as he adverted his gaze, grunting loudly to alert the medicine cat of his arrival, although even grunting caused him to wince. Honey was definitely needed in order for him to try and communicate with others.November 29, 2019 at 5:54 pm #4188
Grateful didn’t even begin to describe the feeling she had towards the rainy season ending. Her den had flooded over, not only destroying her stock, but her place to sleep as well. The warriors were the first to open their paws and welcome the medicine cat to bunker down with them but she, politely of course, refused. She preferred to stay with the apprentices, curling up with her best friend, Plumpaw, instead telling the others her reasoning was because the warriors den was simply too crowded but in truth she was avoiding her love, Snarlingbadger. Peachblossom would be the first to admit her time as an apprentice wasn’t exactly the best. She found love, but terrified of what loving another could do she simply turned to hatred instead, deciding to hate the beautiful rouge, Kass, to the point of wanting to kill her. That being said she found someone who she wanted to protect, someone she felt something much much deeper than love, Snarlingbadger, but she was young not knowing how to approach it jealousy took over causing fight after cruel fights so she eventually pushed him away too. Now she was older, wiser some could say, a different approach on life, she matured finding her way in the world on her own, without Snarlingbadger, but that didn’t mean she didn’t miss him.
Peachblossom took her time away from the large black and white tom to focus on her studies, improving techniques and forming new ones. During Windclans stay she also took the time to learn from Nettlenose, trying her best to make up for her past attitude and wanting to become an amazing healer. Sure she still had the apprentices club but she used them but they no longer watched the rouge instead they devote their time to actually helping the clan. She was quite proud of how they’d becoming, even getting ready to pass down leadership since she was no longer an apprentice.
Preparing for the cold seasons in advance the small molly had been working hard to reorganize the den, moving more crucial herbs to more accessible places most of the morning. Her petite body longed for her new moss bed, flopping into its softness, small particles flying up around her as she did. Finally taking her first break of the day, head falling onto her paws, a yawn threading to escape when she heard the low grunt of a familiar tom cat. Her head whipping around quickly to confirm her fears, she wasn’t ready yet, panic teaching her muzzle. She hadn’t spoken to him since before the rain and now he just appears, honestly she was a little annoyed but she had to face him eventually. Taking her time she forced herself to her paws, the only sign of her nerves was the tip of her tail flicking uncontrollably as she approached him. She knew what he was here for, Honey, he had been needing it more than before but normally he’d just come in, take it and leave but this time he stayed, waiting for her. The small amount of lingering anger wanted to hiss at the tom, ‘you know where it is’, but he stayed clearly waiting for her. A small smile finding its way onto her muzzle, this had to be his sign to her, just like her leaving only the honey in its same spot was her sign to him. “I’m guess you need this,” she chuckled shyly pushing the honey comb towards the tom.

He could tell she was a little irritated with him, but he avoided looking her in the eye in order to make her more comfortable. Their relationship was not easy and it had been strained over the past few moons and honestly it was getting harder for them. He knew they may never get to where that had first been but they could at least be cordial enough since they were Clanmates. Peachblossom had gotten up, the tip of her tail the only indication that she was annoyed that he didn’t just take the honey, but ignored that fact and simply just sat there waiting patiently. As she pushed a small lead containing the small amount of honey, he gave her a brief smile but didn’t grunt in reply, his throat scratchy and sore from the won’t cold. Lowering his big head, he lapped up the small comb of honey, chewing slowly and savoring the honey as he swallowed. Instant relief was met as he closed his pale yellow eyes, his nostrils flaring as he released a small sigh. Finally some relief for his poor throat, he knew that he was the biggest honey consumer in the clan around this time of year… but Peachblossom always seemed to have plenty of honey, perhaps that was her way of acknowledging his existence.
Slowly he opened his eyes and looked at her for a moment, she seemed shy and hesitant but he couldn’t blame her. Nodding after a moment he gave her brief grunt before lowering his head once more to lick at the leaf in order to consume every last drop of the honey, hopefully it would last him for another two days but the air was becoming dry. Deep scars running from his muzzle, neck and to his chest were painful reminders of why he depended so much on this honey. Licking his lips, he straightened out his figure and grunted his thanks to the she-cat, almost standing up but he hesitated for a moment, eyebrows pulling together as he stared down at the leaf. One of his main frustrations in life was having so much to say and not being able to say it. Peachblossom had really been the one to push him so far away, but he hadn’t helped the cause. Slowly he sighed deeply and closed his eyes, trying to control his inner frustration with himself. Reaching out with a large paw, he drew into the dusty ground of what resembled a flower, his way for indicating he knew she had received her full name and he liked it. It was beautiful really, just like her.November 29, 2019 at 6:36 pm #4191
Oh how she had grown to love those scars, if it hadn’t been for those she’d never met him in such a way it forced her to become intone with his body language and his mind. Few cats in Thunderclan could easily understand what he was feeling or wanting to say but Peachblossom, she knew, she spent countless hours studying and watching Snarlingbadger, simple to be able to aide him better, not knowing of the long winding road it’d take them down. Her heart ached looking at Snarlingbadger advert his gaze, did he hate her so much he couldn’t stand to look at her? But then why’d he stay? The smaller molly growing more and more confused each passing moment.
Her blue eyes widening as his movement indicating he would be leaving, her small body jumping in alarm wanting to call out for him to stay. A lump in her throat stopping her, pride not allowing her to stoop so low. Her creamy fur relaxing when he stayed sitting, exhaling quietly. The large tom had begun drawing in the dirt, one of the things that drew her to him in the beginning, watching closely as he drew a flower. Moving closer to the tom, wanting to get a better look, making sure she stayed far enough away that their fur never touched. “A blossom…” she sighed, it was her name, or atleast a form of it, “Thank you.” Her chin lifting with pride. “I worked hard for it, I’m quite proud of it myself.” She boasted, trying to make the conversation as normal as possible, fighting the urge to move any closer to him.November 29, 2019 at 7:01 pm #4194

His pale yellow eyes flickered towards her face as she breathed out his drawling, seemingly pleased with himself that she was able to detect what he had been trying to say all along, smiling faintly as he watched her expression change from shy and wary to being fully proud of herself. He grunted softly to let her know he acknowledged the fact that she had indeed earned her name. Looking all around the medicine cat den as he could see that she had fully made it her own, no longer waiting for a medicine cat to teach her the ropes, Peachblossom was in full control. He smiled, truly smiled as he looked around the den, it was definitely organized different besides the honey, she always kept the honey in the same place. Glancing back towards the she-cat, he gave a definite nod, his muzzle going on a round motion as he counted the den as a whole, before using a paw to gently point at her, although being careful never to touch her.
He wasn’t sure how else to express that he was proud of her without touching her, but he hoped that this was enough. She had grown into a mighty fine young medicine cat and he was so proud of her, she had worked twice as hard as some of the other medicine cats since she had gone so long without a mentor to fully guide her. Snarlingbadger had to keep himself from reaching out and gently brushing his muzzle against her forehead as he used to, the muscles in his neck flexing for a moment as he contemplated but relaxed as he gave her a charming smile. Perhaps she already knew that everyone was proud of her, she certainly deserved this title. His lips parted, although no noise left his throat, he mouthed very slowly. ‘So proud of you.’ Snarlingbadger mouthed carefully, trying to make sure the words were exaggerated enough for her to understand.

Watching him mouth out words caused her heart to warm, Snarlingbadger didn’t do it often maybe because it was hard or perhaps because he sometimes looked ridiculous doing it, but no matter the reason Peachblossom loved it. Though there was still an awkward air surrounding them, she desperately wanted to break that awkwardness. Inching closer to the large feline, giving him a small shoulder bump, “You sure missed an eventful gathering, let’s just say Thunderclan is not on the top of everyone’s gift list this year.” Her voice trying to stay steady, wanting to break down to him, her world had been turned upside down and everything was hard once he left.
Quickly realizing how close she was the small molly scurried away, a fast “I’m sorry.” Slipping from her lips. Nervous paws digging into the soft dirt beneath her. She longed to be back with the scarred warrior, she felt safe with him like nothing in the world could ever even come close to her. The scar that now lined the underside of her belly being a painful reminder that safety wasn’t guaranteed, luckily her fur covered it and very few knew about it.
Clearing her throat Peachblossom scampered over to a pile of herbs, her small paws pushing the pile to the side, searching for a very particular plant. Tiny fang grabbing the stem of a brightly colored flower, presenting it to Snarlingbadger, “Check it out! This is a rare herb called Mallow, we can’t even find it here in Thunderclan, let alone one this brightly colored.” Peachblossom loved herbs, mostly any that where rare and colorful. “I found it on my way home from getting my name, I took the long way around to check on Riverclan, instead of going through Windclan, and there it way I couldn’t help but pick it, with permission of course.” She added. Her gaze locked on the pink plant, “Normally they come in super pale pink or white but this one is just so pretty, it’s my lucky charm.”November 30, 2019 at 7:36 pm #4216

His heart started to race a little when she got closer to him, gently bumping her shoulder with his gut it was enough for his nerves to settle. Things had been so awkward between the two of them, that even though it was a small hint of affection and usually only expressed towards friends, he couldn’t help but let out a small sigh of relief. Ears perked up when she mentioned how he had missed all the drama at the recent gathering, causing his pale yellow eyes to roll to the heavens, shaking his head as he grunted loudly. His sister, Hollystar, wasn’t always the brightest and sometimes thought with her heart too much instead of using her head. He wasn’t exactly happy that Kass was deputy, but he also respected his sisters decision. He guessed the only reason he wasn’t happy about it was because they were mates, being there for each other as mates and as a leader – deputy combo were two completely different things. But they would figure it out, they would have to. Yeah, I certainly heard. Must have been rough on you Medicine cats. He mentally spoke, watching the small she-cat with a softness to his gaze.
His throat convulsed with emotion when she suddenly moved away, his eyebrows pulling together as he physically expressed that he wasn’t happy she had moved away. Her scent had been comforting and the feeling of their fur gently mingling had caused rapid tingles to grace his skin. He want to press her against the wall of the den and shower her face, ears, and neck with tender licks to express his feelings. Although he swallowed the urge to do so, reminding himself to take things as slow as possible. His heart was racing but he tried to keep his expression calm, his claws digging into the soft earth below to keep himself rooted. Watching her curiously, he watched as she came back with a bundle of herbs, although his nose scrunched up as he was quickly concerned they were for him.
Snarlingbadger relaxed however as she went on to speak about how rare of a find this particular plant was, and honestly his heart warmed. How long had it been since she spoke like to him? Maybe it didn’t mean much to her since she was so excited about the plant, but it honestly meant so much to him that she expressed her excitement in front of him. Clearing his throat, he lowered his big head in order to inspect the flower, white nostrils flaring as he breathed in the scent of the mallow. It was a little sweet but more so tart, but he found himself drawn to the scent as he gently rubbed his muzzle against the flower, receiving small specks of pollen on his whiskers, but the scent was still there, causing him to breathe in deeply and release a breath of satisfaction. He didn’t know what mallow was used for, but he certainly approves of the scent. Smiling as he slowly lowered himself into a laying position, he wasn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Peachblossom was excited about her find and his pale gaze somehow grew soft and gentle as he listened.November 30, 2019 at 11:21 pm #4222
She could see the obvious look of sorrow as she felt the tom cat, but she didn’t have time to think about it was she rambled on about her rare Mallow plant. Though when he plopped down in her den like old times ready to listen to her tales, her darkened heart melted a bit. Perhaps it’d be okay to let him back in, even if it was like a little. Peachblossom wanted nothing more than to lay next to him, but she knew it’d be best to wait, after all she didn’t know how he felt about her. She settled for laying in front of him, paws not quite touching but very very close to his.
It’d been so long since she allowed herself time to have visitors, ever since she returned from her adventures to find her mentor, Cherrycloud, extremely ill, the healer had only allowed for those who needed healing to enter the den. Anyone who wished to visit a loved one in her den had to do it while she was out. That wasn’t the Peachblossom anyone knew, besides her detest for rouge the molly was a bubbly feline who needed socialization, her gaze rested upon the warrior, oh how nice it was to have company again.
Peachblossom, as much as she wanted too, couldn’t just sit there and stare at Snarlingbadger all day, and since he couldn’t do the talking, the responsibility rested solely on her shoulders. “Have you ever been down to Moon Cave? It’s so wonderful. I know I went when I was an apprentice but there’s something about going there with my full name that just makes everything so much more…well I dunno Awesome!” She exclaimed. Her tense body relaxing with every words, Peachblossom had always done enough talking for the both of them, old habits die hard as she continued to do just that. “There’s this huge pool of water, and in the middle is this massive rock. It’s so pretty.” The small molly exaggerated her words with her paws, demonstrating how big everything was. “and at the top of the cave is this enormous opening that lets you see all the stars in the sky and let’s the moonlight in. The light shatters off the rocks onto the waters. It’s the most beautiful thing in this whole world.” Her enthusiasm causing her to roll onto her back as she talked about the moonlight and the stars. Her scar clearly visible for a few moment before Peachblossom realized what had happen, quickly covering it back up with her long fur.
Snapping back into reality the lass swiftly rolled back onto her feet, realizing how kit like she was acting. This was her chance to show Snarlingbadger how much she matured and here she was on her back talking like she never left the camp before. Embarrassed the creamy bird began trying to groom her fur back down after it was ruffled from all her sudden movements. Ear tips warm to the touch.

He hadn’t realized that Peachblossom was staring at him, his attention was on the flower that she laid at his paws, head tilting for a moment as he tried to remember if he had ever seen the flower before near the border of RiverClan, pupils narrowing faintly for a moment before his long tongue ran along his whiskers. Absentmindedly cleaning the soft, sweet specks of pollen from the long and white whiskers, pale yellow eyes lifting towards Peachblossom when her voice reached his ears, silently surprised that she was now laying close to him. Chin tilting for a moment as she mentioned the Moon Stone, being a mere warrior he had never had the right to travel to the sacred place, nor had he ever accompanied such a party to where their ancestors graced the earth.
Eyes glazed over as he tried to imagine what she was describing, he could almost smell the wet stone coming off of the cave walls and see the pale light of the moon highlighting the massive stone in the middle of the body of water, appearing silver and causing the water to ripple with small silver waves. Peachblossom certainly was painting a beautiful picture for him, causing him to smile as he watched her explain with both her words and her paws, but he certainly didn’t mind. He couldn’t talk, and Peachblossom certainly had always talked enough for the both of them. Grunting softly, he appeared amused when she suddenly flopped onto her back while speaking about the moon and stars that glistened above the cave and moonstone, rolling his pale gaze for a moment before he caught sight of the pale pink scar that decorated the fragile skin of her stomach, suddenly causing him to tense up. The small molly quickly pushed herself up from her laying position and groomed her fur as if she hadn’t wanted him to notice, but he had. Snarlingbadger wasn’t sure if he should express that he had noticed, as she seemed embarrassed enough.
Slowly his large paw reached out to gently touch her stomach, his large toes splaying against her skin as he moved her long silky furred coat out of the way to see the scar that lay there. He was silent for a moment before he pulled his paw away, not wanting to really upset her but for some reason he had wanted to see the scar more clearly. He was covered in scars, but he had never seen one on the medicine cat when she was younger and could only guess where it came from. Glancing up at her face, he gently lifted his paw to touch the scars along his face and neck. Don’t be ashamed of your scars… be proud of them. But don’t get anymore. He wanted to tell her, he couldn’t hide his scars even if he wanted to. There was no use in getting protective and mad that he hadn’t kept her save, that would only cause her to push him away again… and he didn’t want that to happen.December 1, 2019 at 9:31 am #4240
Her entire body shuddered as his large paw touched the tender soft on her belly, moving her fur aside to see the pink flesh decorating her underside. Holding her breath until he pulled his paw away from her, eyes shutting as she exhaled slowly. Brushing her fur back down with a single movement from her paw, she was a medicine cat, a cat known for peace, how would it look if she had scars all over. “It’s no big deal, just a little hiccup during my adventure.” She mewed, her tone very straightforward.
She cautiously moved closer to the mute warrior, sitting on her hind legs, raising her front paws to rest of his scarred chest, “You’re a warrior, cats see these and think you’re a tough warrior who would give your life for your clan.” Dropping back to the cold dirt she wrapping her tail tightly around her paws. “Mine aren’t see that way, I’m not supposed to be scarred, I’m a bringer of peace not war.” She sighed heavily.December 1, 2019 at 5:37 pm #4247

He held his breath for a moment when she leaned up on her hind legs, fore paws gently pressing into his chest as she silently inspecting the scars that marked him as a mute. His pale yellow eyes searching her face before his ears fell back against his cranium at her words. Yes, she was indeed the bringer of peace between clans, but her scar only proved how far she would go to bring that peace, even if she got it during an adventure. Grunting loudly, he pushed himself up from his currently laying position and moved towards the she-cat, she seemed unsure and definitely uncomfortable that she had a scar.
Shifting he lowered himself into a sitting position beside her, hesitantly wrapping his tail around her flank in a comforting manner. He knew that she saw it different between the different ranks on how scars would be viewed, but honestly he didn’t care. She was still beautiful and was the medicine cat regardless of the scar on her stomach. However, he couldn’t exactly voice it, instead he shifted to gently bump his shoulder blade against her own and began to purr loudly.
