The large gray tomcat slithered out from the shelter of the warrior’s den, bi-colored eyes round with worry and his neck fur bristling uncomfortably. His sister, Snowfeather, hadn’t been in her nest this morning, and the sinking sun was only making the deputy more anxious. He had spoken with Darkstar about her absence, and the leader had told him a search party would be in order if she hadn’t returned before sunset. The sky was ablaze with fiery crimson and soft peach hues, and as time passed the deputy’s worry only increased. I’m not waiting until dark, he thought irritably, lashing his white tail. His blue and amber eyes scanned the clearing, and Obsidiancinders was the first warrior within distance. He hopped over to him on delicate paws, ignoring the shells that poked at his pads. “Obsidiancinders,” the older tomcat began, brows furrowing. “Patrol.” The sentence was finished and he whipped his head around to see Desertriver not to far away. “Desertriver, patrol. We’re leaving now.”

Normally the deputy was relaxed and playful, though determined and focused. He was well respected, but the white and gray molly’s disappearance had put him on edge. Once the trio had gathered, he led them toward the entrance of camp, maw parted as he began tracking her scent. “Snowfeather disappeared last night, if you haven’t noticed. We’re going to track her and figure out exactly where she’s gone, or where she’s been taken,” he added grimly, his neck fur bristling at the thought. If anything had stolen his baby sister, he would make sure that they didn’t live to see another day. He sniffed the ground and realized she’d taken a peculiar exit out of camp, squeezing between the reeds as he walked the path she had walked with Edgefrost last night. “Edgefrost’s scent is here as well,” he murmured to the duo, turning back and gazing at them with anxious eyes.

He grunted as a small burp tried to make its way up, although he silenced the intrusion. Tongue running over his teeth as he cleaned away any sign of his breakfast. Yes, despite the fact the sun was beginning to set in the sky, he was just getting his bearings for the nightly patrols. Here recently the tomcat had turned into a night owl, preferring the shades of black and greys over everything else, made things less complicated for himself. Grey and yellow eyes shifted towards movement, noticing a grey blob was making its way to him. His nose told him who it was before his sniffer could, pupils narrowing as his gaze narrowed in on his deputy. Ears perked upright as Stormhowl spoke his name, although he gave nothing away as he was ordered to attend the patrol. Whatever his deputy wanted, he would grant, who was he to argue?

Wordlessly, he pushed his half eaten prey towards a young apprentice, not bothering to explain himself as he lifted himself off of the ground and began to walk after Stormhowl. Whatever was bothering the male, it made Obsidiancinder’s whiskers pull back against his cheeks. Stormhowl was anxious and it was tainting the atmosphere. Eyes moving towards Desertriver as her name was also spoken, the newest attention to the clan as far as outsiders went. Not that he really had much of an opinion on that either. Dipping his head out of respect towards the pink and black painted molly, his paws were carrying him after Stormhowl. Dark grey spotted fur ruffled against the breeze that tugged at his spine, but other than a quick shake of his pelt, his expression remained unreadable.

Chin tilting as Stormhowl explained what the purpose of the patrol was, causing the male to release a soft snort of surprise. He had not noticed that Snowfeather had been missing all day, then again she wasn’t a priority of his anyway. All he knew was that she was a fellow clanmate and Stormhowl’s younger sister, so this made it a bit more personal for his deputy. “Alright, and if there’s no sign of a struggle?” Obsidiancinder asked out of curiosity, despite whatever expression he was wearing on his face. If there had been more of a struggle, he was sure the whole clan would be in a buzz. The patrol followed the scent for a short ways into the reeds before Edgefrost’s scent also became a marker. Not that he really conversed with Edgefrost but it was well known the two were in a courtship. “Has he gone missing?” He questioned, nostrils flaring as he breathed in Snowfeather’s and Edgefrost’s scent. “I detect no fear, Stormhowl.” Obsidiancinder informed, his tall and slightly broad body pushing forth into the patch of reeds to follow the trail.

    Desertriver
    Riverclan Warrior

A pair of green-amber eyes were looking up at the clear sky, letting out a small huff. It was quiet in the Riverclan camp, too quiet for her liking. It was taking some time for the golden-black Maine Coon to adjust to clan life, but she was fitting in just fine with observing and following along with what’s been happening. Desertriver’s eyes narrowed slightly when her name was called and turned to look at Stormhowl with an arched brow, well someone woke up at the wrong end of the nest.. What was wrong with him? Letting out a small shrug, Desert arose from her area nearby the warriors’ den and padded towards Stormhowl and Obsidiancinder and mumbled a small greetings to the toms. The golden-black molly wasn’t one for social interaction much as she rather let others approach her rather than being friendly towards others, it wasn’t because that she didn’t like anyone.. Desert was just more of an observer than anything.

So it appeared that Snowfeather is missing? No wonder she didn’t see the white and gray warrior and Edgefrost this morning at the warriors’ den.. Come to think of it, Edgefrost hadn’t been seen since late last night either. There was rumors going about his mother Swanpath disappearing as well just this morning, maybe a fox had gotten the two warriors. Desert had remembered Sharkstride mentioning something about a fox attack happening a long time ago that Edgefrost and Snowfeather had gotten caught in the middle of. Letting out a small sigh, the golden and black molly shook her head and followed behind the two toms, not wanting to bother with the small talk that usually happened within these things. The sooner that Desert was back in camp, the better.. Ain’t no way a fox is coming after her after she escaped being killed by a badger when she was a kit.

Her black ears perked up at the scent of Edge and Snowfeather’s scents mingling together, Desert looked around for a moment and started to scan the area with her gaze “You two should start looking for tracks, best way to start a search and rescue.” The molly said dryly, before padding around the area. It was common sense to start looking for paw tracks or any sign of actual struggle, geez. Then again, cats that were trained from Viper’s had a different mindset from these clan cats. Turning to look at Obsidiancinder, she released a small snort “I haven’t seen Edge since last night, but I doubt that he’ll do something to harm her.. He would be an idiot to do something and suddenly run off knowing that he’ll be tracked down.” Desert mentioned, rolling her eyes before padding forward. The golden and black molly soon saw something at the corner of her eye and saw two set of pawsteps and turned back towards the two toms that were nearby and quickly whistled towards them “See, there you go.” Desert muttered as she watched the two cats standing beside her. It seemed that Edge and Snowfeather stopped at the stream, but then it looked like both parted ways in two different directions.

He felt anxious, as if he were living in another cats body. If it had been any other cat, perhaps the deputy would’ve been more calm and collected, but his baby sister had disappeared after he vowed to take care of her. How could he be so stupid? The gray and white male had sworn to never let anything happen to her after their mother’s death and Snowfeather’s accident, but he had let her down and in turn had let himself down. It was a difficult thing to process and Stormhowl couldn’t seem to pinpoint why his emotions were so out of check. He had been rather on edge the past moon, but his meeting with Wildflower had certainly sparked that. The pretty ShadowClan warrior hadn’t returned to him since their night together, but in all honesty the deputy had been avoiding the ShadowClan border since them. Guilt clawed at his belly at the thought of leaving her, but he couldn’t decipher if he was feeling guilty for being with her or leaving her.

He shook his head, trying to refocus himself on the task at hand; Wildflower could wait, Snowfeather was family. Although Obsiandcinders was stoic, Stormhowl appreciated his stony attitude. He never had to worry if the warrior was irritated or upset, and knew he could count on him to be there whenever needed. “No fear scent, but her scent is headed this way,” he murmured, staring off in the direction of the WindClan border. He knew the white and gray molly wouldn’t leave without good reason, and he just had to pray to StarClan that she and Edgefrost didn’t have a horrible fight. His former apprentice was moody, but he wasn’t vicious or dangerous, Stormhowl was confident of that. Desertriver’s blunt comments didn’t seem to hit the deputy’s ears, aside from her chime about the black-pelted warrior. “He wasn’t in camp, but Edgefrost has been known to sort of disappear when he’s upset about something. He’s usually wandering the territory or tending to Swanpath’s kits,” he reminded the she-cat.

He was confident Edgefrost hadn’t left the territory, but he was getting an awful nagging feeling about his sister being far away. At Desertriver’s call, Stormhowl easily slipped over to her, looking at the tracks and how they separated. He nodded at her, a tiny hint of approval. “Let’s follow Snowfeather’s, we can look at Edgefrost’s later,” he grunted, following the twisted path as it led toward WindClan territory.

Whether anyone could tell or not, but Obsidiancinder didn’t really care about searching for Snowfeather. She was so vague within his mind that he wasn’t even sure what she looked like, but now because of this rushed search that was being pushed by her brother, he surely knew what she smelled like. Which wasn’t nearly as pleasant as Blizzardbreeze’s scent. Smacking his lips together, his grey and yellow eyes flickered towards Desertriver as she seemed just as bored as he was, but she was more nagging than anything. “Tracks are the basics.” He shrugged as she tried to give them pointers, which they already knew. Clans cats were city slickers but they weren’t idiots either, he knew how to find tracks and scent markers. He just didn’t care. Hell he wouldn’t even know who Stormhowl was if the Tom wasn’t his deputy!

“Edgefrost is an idiot, but from what I’ve heard he’s too head over heels to actually hurt Snowfeather.” He shrugged, his black dappled fur ruffled from the reeds. Then again, he wasn’t completely sure what Edgefrost looked like either, but he knew the sound of his voice and his smell for sure. It stank. “I don’t particularly care about Edgefrost, he’s not my problem.” Obsidiancinder chimed in, he would only get roped into searching for one cat today, and he was already annoyed with that. Obsidiancinder was not a social cat, he could live his life without having to socialize with anyone other than his mate and perhaps his kits. He followed after Stormhowl and Desertriver, nostrils flaring as he breathed in the scents. “Just Snowfeather and Edgefrost, no signs of a struggle.” He stated the obvious, but it was almost like the deputy couldn’t comprehend that Snowfeather would disappear on her own free will. Not that Obsidian cared. “Now it’s just Snowfeather.” He hummed as the scents changed, looking over Desertriver’s head to see they were getting closer and closer to the WindClan border.

    Riverclan Warrior

Clearly Stormhowl was not clearly fit to lead this search party at the moment as his emotions were getting the better of him. Then there was Obsidiancinder who couldn’t care less about this patrol and was here because he was forced to, followed by Desertriver who just wanted to go home already and curl up in her nest or spend time with Sharkstride since the answer was clearly there that Snowfeather deserted the clan. But the golden and black molly supposed that she needed to keep on searching with these two toms and give some ‘encouraging’ words here and there for the Riverclan Deputy as it looked like his sanity was slowly going away. But even there was some point that even the dark grey and white tom would know that they would have to conclude this search with the fact that Snowfeather was gone and was probably never going to return to Riverclan.

Narrowing her green-amber eyes, the molly quietly followed Stormhowl through the Riverclan territory with Obsidiancinder following behind. Her eyebrows furrowed for a moment when both pointed out that Snowfeather’s scent led towards the Windclan border. Once they had made it towards the border, all they could see were the moors ahead.. But there was something unusual, there was another scent with the gray and white warrior’s. The scent was a male, it seemed like the tom smelled of Windclan and it seemed like their scents mingled together at some point as it appeared Snowfeather had crossed from River into Wind. Now, Desertriver wasn’t one to say anything rude but one would assume right away that Snowfeather and this tom were in some kind of entanglement with each other. Maybe Edge caught her cheating and she ran off with the Windclan male? How scandalous of Snowfeather, Desertriver certainly didn’t expect to see this turn of events happening now.

“So uh, clearly we can’t enter the Windclan border without any permission.. So what now?” Desertriver couldn’t help but ask. Looking over to Stormhowl, she could clearly see there were a million thoughts going through his head. Meanwhile it looked like Obsidiancinder looked focused on something else, she couldn’t tell it was a beetle on a leaf or something insightful. What a disaster this was, these clan cats were a bunch of crazies besides Sharkstride. At least there was one sane cat around in these groups of hippies.
