‘Patience is key.’ Cherrypaw kept thinking as she watched the white-gray molly beside her taking steps carefully around the camp. Her bi-colored eyes scanning the area to make sure no warriors or kits would suddenly appear and cause Snowfeather to lose balance, and she also watched to see if the molly beside her didn’t overwhelm herself with the exercises that Rainysky assigned her. It was a quite a process for Snowfeather’s recovery, and she knew that the gray-white molly would get frustrated sometimes. But Cherrypaw was determined to make sure that the molly would recover, and she would return to a somewhat normal life.
Milkfrost was the first cat that Cherrypaw ever lost, and it still saddened her that they couldn’t save him. But she was determined to help Snowfeather in any way she could, and she wasn’t going to give up either until it was literally impossible for Cherrypaw.
“How’s the leg doing today? Didn’t hurt as much when you woke up?” The small calico questioned softly as she padded beside Snowfeather. Cherrypaw always stayed with Snowfeather during the warrior’s exercises while her mentor was busy in the medicine cat den. She looked over and saw her father was also watching from his spot near his den. Cherrypaw knew how much it meant for Darkstar to see his former apprentice alive, and it seemed like he was hopeful as well on her recovery. Everyone was rooting for Snowfeather’s recovery, and with how Snowfeather’s process was.. There was a chance.
“Remember to stop and take a breather. If you overwork yourself then you could possibly damage the leg even more, so take your time.” Cherrypaw explained as they kept on walking around the clearing, making sure to be ready if she had to quickly step in if Snowfeather suddenly collapsed.April 6, 2021 at 11:50 am #11768snowParticipant

Her blue gaze shifted to and fro as the harsh sunlight pooled at the entrance of the den. Cherrypaw had promised to let her go outside today since her broken leg had almost healed fully. She just needed to strengthen it and hope that nothing went awry during this critical care period. Her first pawsteps outside were carefully placed and awkward, though she stood up straight with a defiant stare. Brushing into the clearing, she winced slightly at her own weight, though she’d realized she’d lost a pound or two in the medicine den. The soft tone of the apprentice made the white and gray molly shake her head slightly as she took small pawsteps, heart hammering in her chest. “No, it just feels… stiff, and maybe a bit sore,” she replied in her even tone, glad the shakiness had gone for good.
Spotting Swanpath’s kits outside the nursery, the new warrior felt her heart glow with happiness. They tumbled around excitedly, sniffing at reeds and assaulting the fresh-kill pile. In a way they were experiencing the same things; everything around her felt foreign and new, and she couldn’t place her paw on it. Being bedridden in a nest for two and a half moons was like a slow form of torture, though the rest must have done her some good as the molly had grown quite a bit during the time. Her first time standing up and limping around the medicine den had shocked her medicine cat friends as she’d filled out her body more, though she still appeared rather thin and wobbly.
She spotted her former mentor, Darkstar, sitting next to his den and watching the pair through narrowed eyes. Feeling self-conscious, the molly shrank slightly and stumbled, letting out a squeak of pain as her legs buckled beneath her. Sighing softly, she slowly hauled herself back onto her paws with Cherrypaw’s help, frustration swirling through her body. Seeing cats walk so easily beside her flared her determination, yet it also hurt her pride just a bit. I should be able to do this without any help, she thought tartly. Snowfeather shook out her fur and took a deep breath, nodding sheepishly at the medicine cat apprentice. She’d managed to do just the thing Cherrypaw told her not to do. Thankfully the ground beneath them was soft and squishy, breaking the fall.
“I think Darkstar is still worried,” she mewed lightly as the pair circled a small spot in the clearing to stretch out her leg. “He seems… a bit odd.” She couldn’t put her paw on it, but the leader seemed almost angry still. She wasn’t sure with who, but it still made her nervous.April 6, 2021 at 8:11 pm #11772MissaParticipant
The calico watched Snowfeather carefully and her bi-colored eyes widened quickly as Snowfeather stumbled and the small molly pressed herself to help the white-gray warrior help and once she saw Snowfeather nod at her, Cherrypaw stepped back and they began walking slowly once more and she smiled softly at her friend “That’s good it feels sore at least, you’re heading into a very good direction.” She said as the two she-cats began to walk to an area of the camp, and she small molly sat nearby and watched as Snowfeather stretched her leg carefully.
Cherrypaw turned over to see her father looking towards them, she gave a soft smile and with waved her tail towards him to which he smiled back. Turning towards her companion, the small calico smiled softly and shook her head “He’s just been stressed recently.” She began, Darkstar was extremely worried about the dream that Cherrypaw had about the black liquid. The molly knew that he was also very unhappy about what Edgepaw did “He’s also not happy with what Edgepaw did, so he’s been keeping a close eye on him” Cherrypaw explained carefully. She knew the apprentice was on thin ice with Darkstar, it was easily well known in the clan. But she saw the apprentice was working harder to become better, it would surely be a process to see how Edgepaw matures. It wouldn’t be an easy one, but she had some slight hope he would become better
“Swanpath’s kits are growing, it feels like they were born just yesterday.” Cherrypaw smiled fondly at her cousins. Her and Forestmask, her uncle, spoke about the kits and their growing personalities. It was nice to see her family growing, and how it was growing more with her little siblings on the way “Are you hungry? Would you like for us to get up and get a fish?” She questioned.
