It was still fairly early in the day and yet there was no presence of the sun’s rays within the territories. Birds did not sing. Prey was scarce, hiding away deep within their burrows. The clouds hung heavy overhead and rain pattered the earth relentlessly. Wisteriaflower felt uneasy, her torn ears pricked forward, alert, and her tail twitching anxiously behind her as she lead the border patrol past the river and onto their shared border with ThunderClan. The river is swelling, the calico feline thought to herself as the trio of felines passed. The rocks near the shoreline were hardly even visible anymore, swallowed by the waves that lapped the ground, threatening to take more of the land with each heartbeat that the rain fell. I hope the rain stops soon. It had been a few sunrises now that the clouds gathered above them and spilled rain into their camp and she had had enough of getting her paws wet in her own nest.
“I wonder if ThunderClan is having as bad of a time as us with all this rainfall?” Wisteriaflower pondered aloud, glancing back at her clanmates that she had asked to patrol the border with her. Stagthroat and Sootstain, two of RiverClan’s warriors, both capable and trustworthy. Having their company present was a bit of a reassurance to the deputy, it made the anxiety she was feeling about the consistent downpour a little less gnawing. However, as the RiverClan cats progressed to the ThunderClan border, their paws only continued to sink into the mud and the ground remained slippery and wet. It was almost as if the rain wanted to take not only their territory, but everyone else’s as well. The very thought made her shiver. “Hopefully, it will stop soon.” She mused.September 27, 2019 at 2:10 pm #2972HornetstarParticipant
Though he was a good warrior, a great asset to the Clan, he had been surprised to be approached by Wisteriaflower about joining a patrol. He wasn’t exactly the friendliest of cats around, better suited for a hunting patrol. Either way he’d have to be paired up with Clanmates, but at least hunting he could leave them for a while. Not to mention with his dainty, almost feminine build, he wasn’t the best backup on a border patrol if things went south. Yes, he could still fight (he was good at most everything), but it wasn’t his strongest ability.
He had settled in behind Wisteriaflower, a comfortable distance between her and him, almost completely ignoring Sootrain. Of course Stagthroat knew the younger warrior was there, he just obviously didn’t care very badly. The brown tom grunted at his deputy’s words, glancing about as if anything would have changed. Which wasn’t the case. The territory close to the border was just as saturated as the territory close to camp. “I don’t think it will,” he huffed, rolling his eyes. Did she not see the clouds still thickly crowding the sky?
