It had been a busy day so far for the RiverClan deputy. She had sent out the morning’s dawn patrol already to check out their borders with ThunderClan and they had come back to camp with positive reports, setting their scent markers just fine which pleased her and Rainstar very much. The hunting patrols had been sent out already, as well, their fresh-kill stocks climbing as well as the heat levels this far into Greenleaf. The day was almost over, the sun was beginning to lower, its edges sneaking from behind the highest of trees beyond the RiverClan camp. Wisteriaflower had but just one duty remaining for the day. She gave her tattered ears a decisive flick and rose to her paws, orange eyes surveying the clearing for just a heartbeat until she spotted Brindlefire and Stormstride lingering in camp.
“Brindelfire! Stormstride! You’re due for the evening patrol, come on, let’s go!” She beckoned to the two warriors with her tail. She waited for them to reach where she waited by the camp entrance before she told them, “We’re going to patrol the border with WindClan tonight. Since the events of the gathering and our tensions with the Tribe, we need to be sure to secure all of our borders daily.” The calico feline knew that her warriors already knew this by now and that they were all surely tired from the extra patrols every day, not only to replenish their prey stocks but to ensure their borders as well, but this wasn’t a time to grow soft and Wisteriaflower was anything but that. She expected the Clan to remain on their paws. “We’re heading out now. Stay alert.” She told the patrol before she turned tail and headed out of camp.July 26, 2019 at 10:03 pm #2656larkParticipant
After finishing her portion of fresh-kill, a minnow that she had caught earlier that day, Brindlefire licked her lips and sprawled out languidly in the grass. She licked her snowy white paws until she was satisfied with their cleanliness before closing her eyes in contentment. A gentle smile played upon the molly’s lips; it had been a rather nice day so far. The calico’s ears quirked at the sound of gentle footfalls, then Wisteriaflower’s voice rang out across the camp. At once, Brindlefire opened her eyes and flickered her gaze towards the deputy.
Pushing herself up off the grass, Brindlefire stretched before trotting across the camp to where the deputy was standing and dipped her head in greeting. The mention of the gathering and tensions between allegiances caused the small smile to wash away from Brindlefire’s face. Despite the extra patrols and the additional care being paid to borders and clan relations, Brindlefire did have a tendency to forget the severity of the situation sometimes. When the sun was shining and the camp was peaceful, it was easy to grow complacent. Maybe that’s just the kittypet in me, she thought bleakly. At any rate, Wisteriaflower’s message was clear: no matter what, the clan had to remain vigilant.
“Yes, Wisteriaflower,” Brindlefire replied at once, then turned to offer Stormstride a polite greeting. When Wisteriaflower turned to leave, Brindlefire followed suit, falling into step just behind her.July 27, 2019 at 12:45 am #2662FearedParticipant
Stormstride ~ RiverClan Warrior
Long pink tongue was gently running over his long dark grey and white fur, simply cleaning himself of the moss and scent of river water, paper thin ears twitching slightly as he caught the sound of Wisteriaflowers voice, pupils narrowing slightly for a moment as his handsome chiseled face towards the source. Light green eyes zoned in on the richly colored calico as she called out his name, and also the name of the former kitty pet that was beginning her rein as a warrior of RiverClan. Yet another patrol. He thought to himself, a soft sigh leaving his lips as he frowned and glanced down towards his pelt. Perhaps later on I can have a proper bath. Stormstride mused to himself, pushing his large and muscular frame up from the ground. Stretching out his front legs to stretch out the sore muscles before his eyes found the other calico feline of Brindlefire, eyebrow arching for a moment. Some kitty pets are good for something. He thought to himself, lips curling up in the corner of a grin.
Walking towards the two she-cats, he gave both the felines a grin and dip of his big head. “Heck yeah. A patrol with two of the most beautiful she-cats in the clan.” The Tom meowed with a charming smile laced onto his face, looking from cat to cat as they started to file out of the camps clearing, eyes absentmindedly looking towards Brindlefires tail for a split moment. “This will be interesting.” he meowed more so to himself, large paws quickly hitting against the ground as he hurried after both Wisteriaflower and Brindlefire .July 28, 2019 at 11:52 am #2672JetstreamParticipant
Wisteriaflower’s orange eyes gave a roll at Stormstride’s unseemly flirting; she had two mates in her lifetime as well as two litters– she hadn’t the time for toms, especially with her mate, Brightfoot, still in the picture. His comment went in one ear and straight out the other as the deputy blatantly ignored it. Instead, her attention turned to Brindlefire as the trio wondered out of camp and into RiverClan territory. “Are you adjusting to Clan life well?” She asked, glancing over at the calico she-cat. For a brief moment, she wondered if the tom’s flirting had bothered her at all, but decided against asking outright. She knew the warrior meant well and his personality wouldn’t interfere with the patrol they were out on. However, their unity as a group was vital as well and important to Wisteriaflower. The calico feline preferred checking up on the warriors of RiverClan as often as she could, not only to ensure their healthy relationships within the Clan but also because she cared about each of her clanmates individually.
With the sun beginning to set, the heat waning, and the prey starting to return to their nests and hiding holes, a certain quiet calm enveloped RiverClan territory and feigned a soothing sense of peace as the patrol headed towards the WindClan border. It certainly was easy to forget the tensions that could rise between the Clans when things could be so deceivingly peaceful in times like this. But Wisteriaflower could not forget the interruption of the Tribe at the gathering and the sudden and strong demands they had made of the Clan cats, it was something that made the tip of her tail twitch restlessly and made the beginning of her deputyship quite hard and stressful. It wasn’t enough that she had been a queen in the nursery a simple moon ago, but now she was deputy of her Clan and dealing with a new tension that threatened the balance of all five Clans by the ocean– it was a lot to handle, but she liked to think that she was getting along just fine.
“And you, Stormstride?” Wisteriaflower pondered, gesturing to the large grey and white tom with a flick of her tattered ears, “How have your duties been treating you lately? I know I’ve been running you all silly but if you ever need a break to rest from things, don’t hesitate to let me know. I’d rather our warriors be healthy and strong than exhausted and overworked.”
