Gears were churning within this tomcats mind as he pressed his lips together and looked up towards the dark grey clouds that were hanging lowly within the sky. Deep rumbles of distant thunder grumbled, causing the tomcat to release a soft sigh but his mind was elsewhere. Heavy thoughts were weighing him down, long tail slowly swaying out behind him as the massive tomcat cleared his throat as a particular thought wouldn’t leave his mind. Peachblossom and himself had been trying for a litter of kits for moons, and perhaps they were being a bit impatient but he could see that it was turning his mates mood sour. Although he couldn’t help but keep thinking about what his best friend had kept muttering in his ear about surrogates that carried kittens and then gave the kittens to the father and his mate to raise.
This concept was a bit strange to him, but pale yellow eyes flickered towards the shadowed entrance of the medicine cat den. The mere thought of fathering kits with another female disgusted him, but the want to have kits of his own was pulling at him. For one thing he knew Peachblossom would never go for the idea, and if he was being honest he wasn’t too fond of the idea either. He prayed to StarClan that if anything, he could have kits with Peachblossom. And if that wasn’t the will of StarClan then the two felines would live good, long lives together. White nostrils flared as the tomcat slunk from the shadows of the shaking brush as the wild winds howled as the storm blew in faster and faster with each step he made towards the medicine cat den.
Within his jaws, the massive cat carried a squirrel as he lowered his head. Pale yellow eyes widened in the shadows as he adjusted to the difference in light, tilting his chin as he kept his head lowered and shoulders hunched as he walked further into the den before his mates lovely scent tickled the back of his throat. Soon enough he spotted the short and incredibly fluffy peachy cream she-cat, his gaze softening slightly as he lowered the squirrel near her nest. “Mmmmmmhhh.” Snarlingbadger grunted, despite the fact that he could speak minimally, it hurt and bothered him to do so. Instead, he preferred to grunt, hum, and snarl in order to communicate. Smiling faintly, the heavily scarred male moved forward to gently rub the bottom of his chin against the top of Peachblossom’s head, licking her ear softly.April 2, 2021 at 11:56 pm #11751PeachParticipant
The warmth that was normal next to her was gone and the place had finally cooled. She was use to this, he often did all of his warrior duties early in the morning, and would bring her breakfast, it was nice and she wouldn’t complain. Peachblossom was ever so thankful for the large tom cat to be in her life, the rest of the world could hate her and so long as he was by her side she’d be completely okay with it. His scent awoke her before the actual tom cat did, but she loved that he went out of his way to wake her up each morning. Pretending she was still in a deep sleep when Snarlingbadger approached her. A loud purr rumbled from the small molly when she felt her mates chin on her head, Could he be any cuter! Pressing her head up against his chin. “Honey, not now I’m tired.” Teasing her mate had become one of her favorite activities, they had been trying for moons to conceive but they just weren’t having any luck. Peachblossom feared it was her fault but there was always the possibility it was indeed Snarlingbadger but she didn’t dare bring it up. This was already weighing on both of them, they didn’t need to start fighting about it, they could just keep trying later on.
Hauling herself to her paws, the small cat pressed into her mate as she circled around him, licking his cheek once she came back around to his front, “Hello my love.” Peaschblossom stared at the scarred tom, he was the most handsome tom in the world to her, she loved just being able to look at him, but this time even though his expression was fairly normal she just felt like something was off. Sitting close to Snarlingbadger, leaning into his chest. “You know I know you fairly well at this point and I can tell that something is up with you, come on spit it out.” Even when it comes to talking to her mate her personality shows through in times like this, as her expression was soft but her tone was rather strict.

He knew that Peachblossom was tired but she also needed to wake up, a storm was brewing outside and he knew with storms, came stupidity. Young toms and apprentices wanting to challenge the world, it was a rush of a feeling when a storm as such blew through but he no longer had those dumb urges. At least not strongly. Her soft pout and jab at him caused his cheeks to burn but he said nothing of it as he gave another low grunt. It was time for her to wake up. Snarlingbadger gently rubbed his chin over top of her head once more, coaxing her awake before she finally lifted her head to press up against his chin. She was waking up.
His little peach was standing up and stretching as he took a step back to give her space before he lowered himself down to sit. It was true that things were weighing heavily within his mind but for now he wasn’t going to press the matter. Instead he smiled softly down at his fluffy mate as she circled him, pressing her body against his. The sensation caused goose bumps, the fur along his spine standing up slightly as he turned his chin to look at Peachblossom when she came to stand at his chest. She had stood on her toes in order to lick his cheek, producing his own rusty purr as he lightly licked her forehead in return. Now Peachblossom was the best at reading him, she had been studying him since she was a young apprentice. She knew him too well. “Hmmmm.” He hummed raggedly as he put his thoughts in order, although he didn’t want to bring this to light just yet he knew his mate would badger him until it had left his lips.
Clearing his throat, he licked his lips in order to moisten them so his voice wouldn’t sound so broken. “Something weighing on mind.” He said softly, his voice cracking here and there and his pale yellow gaze looked down at his mate as his tail curled around her body in order to caress her stomach. He knew the problem could be with any of them, and he prayed to StarClan it was him holding Peachblossom back… but who knew? “Surrogate?” He asked in a questioning tone, head tilting slightly as he looked down at Peachblossom. He wasn’t a fan of this idea and he was preparing himself for an outburst from his little lady, but it was now out in the open for the two of them to consider.. eventually.April 13, 2021 at 11:31 pm #11844PeachParticipant
“Hmm a surrogate? Honey why in starclan would you even think to…” She could feel the anger boiling in her pelt at the mention of her honey going anywhere near another cat. Her claws digging into the dirt beneath her paws. Her tiny body was easily overpowered by her strong emotions but she was working on it, but it was still a daily struggle for her.
“Breath Peach breath” Turning away from her large mate, walking away for a moment to recollect her thoughts before turning to readdress her love. A smile was plastered on her small muzzle, but her gaze was staring daggers through the black and white tom cat. Peachblossom loved her mate but he made some interesting choices sometimes. With her head in the process of cooling Peachblossom lips parted once more to speak, “Snarlingbadger, I surely hope you have a rationally reason for asking me your mate, to go off and have kits with some other she cat.” Peachblossom was giving it her all to try and speak rationally and calmly at least when talking to her mate but it was obvious when she wanted to blow, using his full given name.
Circling around the larger frame of Snarlingbadger, her nose poked him every so often giving him a quick once over to make sure there weren’t any visible injuries. “Now sit still. I’m positive you must have hit your head to suggest something like that.”April 14, 2021 at 7:24 pm #11870
There it was, the blazing fire of unquestionable anger that was fuming within Peachblossom at the possible mention of a surrogate. He couldn’t blame her, he knew what that entailed but he couldn’t lie and say that he didn’t want a family. He did, desperately. Snarlingbadger was tired of feeling alone, and although Peachblossom filled a large void within him.. something was still missing. He noticed the way her claws were digging into the ground and he couldn’t help but thank StarClan that she wasn’t currently latching onto his pelt with those claws. For now he stayed silent as she tried to wrap her mind around what was going on with his sudden suggestion… was it that sudden? Perhaps not for him since Sagetalon had planted the seed of this thought for a few days now but it wouldn’t leave him. Perhaps Peachblossom could put these worried thoughts to rest.
Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the dark shadows of the medicine cat den as Peachblossom expressed her dislike. She was clearly trying to cool herself down and he knew better than to get in the middle of her thought process but he was watching her curiously as he gave a twitch of his whiskers, pulling them back towards his cheeks. She wanted to know what on earth he was thinking, even ditching his nickname and going for throat. His name. Nostrils flaring slightly as he took a breath in order to calm himself before he gave his mate a small smile. “For you.” He responded with a sharp grunt to clear his throat, wincing slightly before he continued. “I bad.” Snarlingbadger tried to reassure her.
As she curled around his body, he obediently lowered his head in order for his mate to check, although he smirked and pressed his face into her fluffy pelt with a soft sigh before he rubbed his cheek against the fur. Her scent was addicting and was surely more appealing than his own. “Sagetalon say.” He admitted with a soft huff, lifting his head slightly as his expression turned to be troubled as he gazed at her empty stomach. Unease was trembling throughout him as he let out another sigh, looking away from his mate. “Honey could be issue.” Snarlingbadger couldn’t afford to speak in full sentences, it hurt for one reason and the second was he had a limited time before his voice broke entirely for the day and was lost. He was happy about the idea of another male being around Peachblossom but he honestly wanted her opinion. She was his medicine cat and his mate.
