Trading one handicap for another, that’s how he saw this. And he was blatantly choosing to ignore the fact that the one handicap had already been there, he just aggravated it worse in order to apparently get rid of the other handicap. This being he had earned his warrior name saving a Clanmate from foxes, but also reopened a wound he had sustained during the border skirmish with ShadowClan, meaning he was confined to camp until the stubborn wound finally fully healed. It was terrible. Downright torture, and he was certain medicine cats had been created simply to make their Clanmates’ lives miserable.
Being able to leave camp had been not only his literal escape, but also his mental one. Even after moons here, even after being all but raised here, Foxtongue still had a hard time completely letting his guard down. Applepaw wasn’t able to shirk training to keep him company all the time, so more often than not he was left by himself, with only his thoughts as company. Needless to say, he was on edge, more grumpy than usual, living up to his newly earned warrior name. Gone was Foxpaw, replaced by the full fledged SkyClan warrior that Foxtongue was. He had a feeling this meant his place within the Clan was cemented, but he still didn’t really completely know what that place was.
With a sigh he curled his tail around his paws tighter, mindful of not moving his side too much so his wound didn’t reopen. Watching his Clanmates coming and going, sitting outside the warriors’ den where he was, was only making him more antsy.May 1, 2020 at 2:00 am #6256ChrisParticipant
Brightspark sat outside the Medicine Cat den, her pale robin-egg blue gaze taking in the busting go-abouts of her new home. So much had occured recently, yet she felt more sure than ever that her paws were on a path towards answers about her past. The tabby she-cat had made many new friends, surely the truth was not far away now?
She spotted Foxtongue, another newly named cat across the way, remembering Saffrongaze had been fussing over him; she decided to take it upon herself to see how he was feeling to ease the burden on her close companion.
The tall she-cat strode over and stood over him with a huge smile plastered over her lynx-like features.
“Heya Foxtongue! How’s y’wound treain’ ya?” She plopped down beside him as if they were old friends.May 26, 2020 at 11:24 pm #6508HornetstarParticipant
Watching the clearing like a hawk, as he had been, he was aware of Brightspark moving as soon as the darker ginger she-cat took her first step. It was also soon clear to him that she was moving in his direction, part of him instantly hoping she was heading for the warriors’ den. But one look at her gaze on him, and it instantly became clear he was her chosen destination.
The young tom found himself tensing upon her approach, heart hammering in his chest as she seemed to loom over him. There honestly wasn’t much of a size difference between them, but that still didn’t calm his nerves at all. She had taken up such an firm stance, standing over him as she was, and he couldn’t help but remember other times other cats had stood over him. What could she possibly want from him that prompted such an aggressive stance?
When she finally sat down, it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He could breathe easier, feeling like a possible threat had been eliminated. Then she mentioned his injury. “It’s annoying, but healing,” he stated in a monotone voice, green eyes narrowing just slightly. Living in a Clan, most everyone was made aware of his injury as soon as it happened, but having it brought up so blatantly by someone who wasn’t the medicine cat… Had Brightspark come over here to scope him out for a later time, when she caught him outside of camp and was an easy target? Wait, no – he wasn’t allowed out until his injuries were better. Now he was truly perplexed by what she could want, and his confusion was minutely visible on his face.
