    Firepaw ~ ShadowClan Apprentice

Apple green colored eyes glistened with silent wonder as the young feline quietly  slipped through a growing fern, a purr slipping past her vocals as she enjoyed the feeling of the plant rubbing through her short furred pelt. Scents of moss and creek rock tingled at her scent glands as she walked further through the pine forest, simply using her nose as she wandered curiously throughout the territory. “Smells like the stream is up ahead.” Firepaw chimed softly as she looked over her shoulder blade for a moment as her eyes landed upon her siblings Crimsonpaw and Dustypaw. Their mentors were not too far behind and were giving the young felines some room to adjust to the new freedom they now held. Having finally escaped the boundaries of the nursery.

Dark black spots decorated her deep red pelt, when caught in the light her fur shimmered like fire. Firepaw resembled her father and her older brother, Snappingfox. Shaking out her fur, the short and slender feline slipped from the brush, her small paws sinking and slipping against the smooth and round creek rocks that speckled the ledge of the slow moving water. “Oooo.” Firepaw cooed, her eyes taking in the wondrous sight of the moss covered boulders and the sight of small silver fish rushing throughout the clear water. She had never really seen a large mass of water like this, although unknown to her the lake was much larger. “Crimsonpaw, Dustypaw… come see this.” She spoke over her shoulder, whiskers twitching with curiosity as she walked cautiously towards the creek ledge, sticking out a small paw as her tender paw pad gently tapped the surface of the water. “Oh! It’s cold!” Firepaw exclaimed, ears upright.

Deep orange tinted orbs peered through the foliage, his dark red pelt blending in with the dark bushes as he pushed through them. Leaving the safety of his mentor to travel with his siblings. His lighter twin sister clearly more enthusiastic of the two, he was excited to be finally free to travel beyond the walls of the nursery and even more excited to be able to explore the land with his littermates. He was just more cautious than his sister, taking all the time he could to listen to advice and stories from other apprentices and warriors, very much aware of the dangers that hid among the seemingly peaceful surroundings. Thundering paws pausing for a moment at his sisters words, “A stream? Like I trust your untrained nose!” A teasing tone filling the air, turning to his only brother, “Come on Dustypaw we better make sure she stays out of trouble.” Bounding swiftly after his lighter twin.

The sight of the smooth stone lined water sent a warm feeling throughout the tom, inhaling softly his sense enjoying the newfound scents filling them. Joining his sisters side, seeing the two side by side they resemble each other quite a bit, though Crimsonpaws pelt was a much darker and deeper shade of red their markings were exactly the same, until you reach their face, Firepaw was blessed with normal upright ears Crimsonpaw on the other paw had ears the flopped over. His paws prodding the stones checking to see how slippery they were before taking a step further onto them, silently wishing Firepaw would be a bit more careful as he was, “Be careful Firepaw!” He insisted sharply, maybe Crimsonpaw could be seen as over protective but he just wanted everyone to be cautious and safe especially on their first time without their mentors. If one of them got even a little hurt they’d never let them out on their own again. Whiskers twitching with amusement as he looked back towards his brother, “It is rather cool Dustypaw.” His tail waving his brother to follow them.

    Dustypaw ~Shadowclan Apprentice

Timidly following silently behind Firepaw and Crimsonpaw. His gait stiff and awkward as he could feel the eyes on their mentors further back as the newly made apprentices explore their territories. Jade green eyes flickering rapidly around as he tries to absorb every little detail around him. Squinting at the bright contrast of light filtering through the canopy of interwoven branches. Pausing to stare up in wonder as green leaves slowly start to grow and come to life among the trees. The first indicator that new-leaf was finally on its way. The young small long haired tom remembered the stories of the seasons from elders when his mother let him visit. Dustypaw has always been intrigued by the past and his clans history. Dusty brown ears perking up at the high pitched tone of Firepaw as she enthusiastically monologues everything she sees. Smiling softly to himself as he found her bubbly personality contagious.

Tearing his eyes away from the trees as he realizes that he was lost in thought for too long. A soft gasp escaping him as he calls out, “O-oh! I’m coming” his voice rising an octave as he rushes after his siblings. His thicker pelt snagging ever so often on bare branches. Causing his cream and dusty brown pelt to stick up in odd angles as he clumsily approaches the stream and the two fiery colored siblings. A grin spreading along his lips as he glances at the steady flowing stream. Ears twitching at the trickling sound of water slipping through smoothed out stones from continuous wear of the stream.  Dusty couldn’t help but feel slightly out of place beside Crimson and Fire, as his fluffy white and brown pelt stuck out amongst the dark and lighter red hues. Frowning slightly before glancing down into the water, his blurred reflection rippling within the water’s surface. “It looks cold” he cheekily replies as he looks over at Firepaw as she jumps away from the cold water.

    Firepaw ~ ShadowClan Apprentice

Ears twitched with the sharp tone Crimsonpaw had used in order to warn her to be more careful, which only caused her to roll her green eyes and glance towards her darker furred twin. “Oh, stop being a worry kit.” She teases lightly, long tail shifting to faintly flick against her brother shoulder blade in amusement. Green eyes flickering towards Dustypaw as he finally caught up to them, causing her smile to widen at the sight of her shy and quiet brother. “Oh, it is.” She reassured him, her toes reaching out to dance along the surface of the water once more, before she gently splashed a few droplets in Dustypaw’s direction. “See for yourself.” She meowed cheekily, bit was smiling nonetheless before she looked away from Dustypaw and nudged Crimsonpaw with her shoulder blade. “I see a flat rock, over there.” She exclaimed, using her muzzle to point in the direction of the flat rock that was barely poking out of the creek water. “Oooo!” She grinned in excitement, long tail thrashing behind her as the muscles tensed before she leaped out towards the flat rock.

Her left hind paw slipped as she landed upon the smooth surface of the rock, landing within the water as she let out a small yelp as the ice cold water soaked her fur immediately and kissed her skin with the ice cold touch. Grunting she lifted her foot out of the water immediately, shaking off the water droplets from the fur while her green eyes were plastered upon the shimmering surface of the water. “Fish!” Firepaw called out, smile broadening as she spotted the tiny silver bodies of the fish that weaves their way along the small pebbles of the creek bed. “They are so tiny..” She meowed, chin tilting slightly as she reached out a forepaw as she tried to touch a swift moving fish. However, her movement frightened the fish and they quickly swam away from the shadow caused by her paw. “Awww.” Firepaw whined, her ears falling back against her head with disappointment.

“I am not a worry-kit! You’re just reckless.” Swatting at the lighter striped tail of his sister, his orange eyes rolling as she took to the water once more, “Come one Firepaw we’re Shadowclan we don’t play in the water like those fish for brains against the way” The fiery tom using lingo he heard from older apprentices to describe Riverclan. Crimsonpaw wasn’t too sure where Riverclan lived just yet but his paw gestured in a random direction, its not like any of them could question him; they were not taught where the other clans were yet. His folded ears twitching at the approach of his bi colored brother, “Bout time slow poke,” A teasing tone lacing his words towards their brother. Flat rock? His eyes following Firepaws muzzle to the flat grey surface poking just above the water, “Firepaw don’t you da-” Having a feeling she would try something like this. His head shook as she leaped away from him.

Crimsonpaw felt his heart sink as she lost her footing against the slick boulder, they were exactly experts on the subject of rocks and water, it made Crimsonpaw uncomfortable not knowing how to handle the water yet. His gaze lazily followed his brother, giving his brother a small shrug, “Nothing we can do about it now I suppose. We stick together.” Stating the words their mentors shared with them before they departed, “Just be careful Dustypaw, don’t miscalculate your jump like miss Rushtail over there.” Crimsonpaw spent most of his time having around with the other apprentices and warriors whenever their mother allowed them to spend time outside the nursery. He made sure to always ask questions when he got the chance to learn about being outside of the camp. He might have seemed annoyed with Firepaw, and in a way he was but this was also the perfect excuse for him to explore as well. His darker striped tail flicking behind him, his paws pushing against the stones, feeling his muscle tense until he pushed off the stones. The sensation of his paws hitting hard against the flat rock sending a shock coursing through his body.

Crimsonpaw let out a hearty chuckle at his twin trying to touch a fish, “Fish, may I introduce you to Shadowclans future hunter Firepaw!” Leaning down towards the water, “Dont worry though she won’t actually catch anything!” His eyes filled with mischief as he spoke.

    Dustypaw ~ Shadowclan Apprentice

Flashing them both a bashful smile at his late arrival. Hissing lightly in surprise as ice cold droplets decorates his pelt at Firepaw’s childish antics. Frowning in distaste as he lightly shakes his small form, trying to get the feel of the cold water to disappear. “Thanks. I greatly appreciate that” he sarcastically drawls as he huffs in her direction. Yet; his words fell on deaf ears as the hyperactive she-apprentice’s attention was already focused else where. Honestly. He didn’t know why he decided to tag along with those two. Well actually, Crimson he could tolerate while Fire on the other hand…she was unmanageable. “Oh no…” he worriedly mutters to himself as he already notices before Crimsonpaw on their sister’s intentions. “She is a goner!” Dustypaw groans as he almost looks away when she makes her reckless jump. Squinting his eyes half-way shut before willing himself to watch to see the outcome. An audible sigh of relief could be heard from the bi-colored tom as Firepaw clumsily fixes herself upon a smoothed out stone.

Blinking in confusion and then bewilderment as Crimson decides to go along with Firepaw. ‘It’s official. I am the only sane one here!’ He couldn’t help but think. Scowling nervously up at his older brother; his words of caution falling on deaf ears as Dustypaw was suddenly consumed in anxiety. The smaller feline knew that it would be unlikely for him to make such a jump. He wasn’t exactly the most coordinated one out of the bunch. Biting his bottom lip nervously as he shuffled closer to the waters edge. Peering into the bone-chilling water with unease. “I think..I think I’m going to sit this one out” Dustypaw nervously chuckles as he glances over at the red twins. It was obvious he was afraid of the water, but he couldn’t bring himself to verbally tell them that the thought of falling into the shallow stream frightened him.

Trying to change the subject, hoping to divert their attention away from the fact he was too chicken to jump. Clearing his throat as he catches a glimpse of the silver backed fish swimming along the consistent current. “I believe that’s a trout!” He exclaims in wonder as he bends further to get a closer look. His jade green eyes peering into the clear water, watching in curiosity of the way the silvered fish moves gracefully within the stream. Suddenly the fish jumps at him as if warning the easily startled tom to stay away. Loosing his footing in shock before falling into the bitter cold water. Breath hitching in his throat at the coldness seeping through his fur, chilling him to the bone as he panics and thrashes about trying to get his footing on the slippery stones.

    Firepaw ~ ShadowClan Apprentice

She was well aware that her family thought she was wild and reckless, but that didn’t faze in the least. Dustypaw was like her little accomplice, he was shy and timid but he also cautioned her and tried to keep her from making too many mistakes. Crimsonpaw was definitely her guardian angel, taking the leaps and bounds with her to keep her grounded, although there were times when she could sway her twins decision making. Apple green colored eyes flickered towards both her brothers as they gasped and groaned when she leaped for the flat rock, “Oh stop your bickering, I made it regardless.” She smirked slightly as gave a sassy wave of her tail, eyes glimmering with curiosity as she was indeed leaning too far over the rock in order to peer into the creek bed. Upon hearing the sound of the creek bed crinkling under the weight of Crimsonpaw, soon followed by the sound of paws hitting the flat rock, she knew that her twin had finally made it out to her. “Hey there.” She teased as she rubbed her pelt against her brothers, chin lifting as she looked towards Dustypaw, who appeared hesitant and much preferred to stare from his grounded spot.

She snickered at Crimsonpaw’s comment towards the fish, lifting her paw to lightly swat away at Crimsonpaw’s muzzle. “Don’t mind him, fishy. He has no idea what…” She trailed off when she noticed that the fish was swimming away from her and moving towards that of Dustypaw. “Now you’ve done it.” She growled playfully and knocked her shoulder with Crimsonpaw’s before she heard Dustypaw meow. “A trout?” She wondered out loud before she watched the scene of the fish jumping at Dustypaw and her sibling tumbling into the shallow water. Lips parted as soft giggles racked through her chest, causing the tall but slightly fluffy fiery orange and black spotted she-cat to jump into the freezing water. A squeal of shocked from the temperature of the water slipped past her lips before she began to run in the direction of Dustypaw, laughing all the way as she breathlessly helped straighten out her brothers form as he flailed. “Why do you get to have all the fun?” She teased to Dustypaw, licking his ear to calm him before she noticed the fish swimming away. “Your trout!” Firepaw gasped, before she knew it her paws were moving as she raced through the water, running in a zig zag pattern as she tried to keep up with the fish.
