This patrol to SkyClan had been handpicked by Hornetstar, kept under very tight wraps. He had let Smokewisp know he and a few warriors were leaving camp and would return later, that she was in charge while he was gone, but that was all. Saplingskies and Hareflight didn’t even know he had left camp with a patrol, let alone their destination. This whole “mission” was tightly under wraps, but it was obvious he was going for… Not very friendly goals. Snappingfox, Fearedjackal, and Waspstrike were all respected warriors, good to have in a fight. And Roachpaw and Skunkpaw? Well, this would be a good test for the two almost-warriors. He had hopes nothing would go south today, but he wasn’t about to hold his breath. Even he was aware of how rash this plan of his was, but he knew he couldn’t sleep unless he did this. There were far too precious things on the line.
He had set a brisk pace straight to SkyClan, swaggering into the camp almost like Wolfstar and Nettlenose had to ShadowClan camp the other day. He glanced around as the patrol drew to a halt in the clearing, glancing towards where he assumed Firestar’s den was. Then he looked around at all the cats that had been in the clearing and were now staring, clearly uncertain whether to be on guard or not. “I wish to speak to Firestar,” he stated loudly and clearly, head held high. The golden tom radiated confidence in whatever this plan of his was, fighting to keep the smirk off his face until he had the other leader right where he wanted him.February 8, 2020 at 10:36 pm #5003FearedParticipant
FearedJackal ~ ShadowClan Warrior
Dark blue eyes slowly scanned around the birch tree forest as they had left the pine forest behind them. The scents that filtered through this strange forest was odd, but slightly comforting as he eyed the grey and white bark of the tall and thin trees. Odd. He thought silently to himself, adjusting his gaze towards the patrol that he currently was following. Hornetstar was leading the patrol, his serious and sour mood pouncing off the trees as he stalked ahead. Snappingfox and Waspstrike walked around the same pace he was walking, both were serious and head strung warriors, both very good with fighting strategies. Which he supposed he was also granted in that category of the clan, which caused his skin to crawl with unease as HornetStar was leading them to the heart of SkyClan.
Soon enough a tall and muscular black furred tomcat slipped through the entrance of the SkyClan camp with the rest of his patrol, eyes narrowing as he glanced around the SkyClan cats that were out and about within the clearing. He tried to ignore the thick tension that hung heavy in the air but it was too apparent for it to be overlooked. Clearing his throat for a moment he listened to the sound of Roachpaw’s and Skunkpaw’s foot falls as they followed the warriors into the camp. Whatever Hornetstar has planned, all he knew was that he would stand beside his leader no matter the outcome of this meeting. Grumbling slightly as he stood at attention, dark blue eyes slowly roaming around the camp as he took note of how many cats were actually surrounding them.February 9, 2020 at 10:34 am #5006SoliloquySilverParticipant
Snappingfox’s paws prickled with anxiety as the patrol prowled through SkyClan territory. It was clear to him what Hornetstar’s intentions were bringing them here, and he didn’t like it. It was one thing to stir up trouble at the border, but to do so in a rival clans camp? It was practically suicide! Still, he had to admit that he was honored to be chosen as one of ShadowClan’s best warriors. Hopefully things wouldn’t go catastrophically wrong so he could live to bask in the glory of it all once they returned home. The red warrior silently observed his clanmates, eyes falling to Fearedjackal. The black warrior reminded him of his father, in a way. Stoic, strong, brave… Snappingfox would never admit it, but he found it somewhat comforting. He wished his father had been chosen to come along. He hoped Hollowflame and Briarfeather would understand that he was specifically instructed not to tell a soul where Hornetstar was taking the patrol. They wouldn’t be too happy about him just willingly strolling into SkyClan camp to look for a fight.
Before he knew it, they had arrived. He took a deep breath to steady his nerves, then followed his clanmates into the clearing. He tried his best to ignore all the SkyClan eyes boring into him, simply staring ahead with an unreadable face. He was standing at full height, not wanting to show any sign of nervousness or weakness in front of the enemy. His claws were sheathed for now, but they were ready to come out at a moment’s notice. He waited for Firestar to show himself, hoping this would be over with soon.February 9, 2020 at 2:19 pm #5016ChrisParticipant
Waspstrike assented in a soldier-like fashion, speaking to no one and maintaining eye contact only on Hornetstar himself. A shade of curiosity mingling with the respect often found when her gaze fell upon their Leader. It was well-known that due to his involvement in her arrival in the clan, she had placed an unshakable trust in the tom. She sometimes resented those vulnerable feelings. It made no sense to trust someone you hardly knew.
Still, she had made her decision long ago that her life here was in restitution. With her father in the ground what else was there to do?
She journeyed in silence with the others, arriving in the barren dry hollow of the SkyClan cats. To the untrained eye it may seem an extra apprentice had tagged along, save for the severe cold of her pale blue eyes. Behind which lurked the shadow of lost innocence.February 9, 2020 at 6:39 pm #5023PeachParticipant
Top secret mission with his best friend? Why would he say no to that. Though joining this rag-tag group of warriors along side their quite serious leader Hornetstar. He did hesitate at first when he was told they’d be traveling to Skyclan, unannounced, as young kits and apprentices they’re taught to stay within Shadowclan border but now here they were, marching over their lines. Though he was very grateful to have both Snappingfox and Roachpaw on this journey with him, casting his dark companion a quick smile before slightly shoving him, “What do you think this mission is about?” Being sure to keep his tone hushed, Hornetstar wouldn’t be too keen on the apprentices gossiping the whole way to Skyclan and back.February 9, 2020 at 8:30 pm #5028
Roachpaw~ Shadowclan Apprentice
Though he would never admit it; he was nervous about this mission he was on. Something in the pit of his stomach told him that things were definitely going to go wrong. Biting his lower lip as he swallows the lump in his throat, trying his best to push this unease within him to the back of his mind. Squaring his shoulders, nostrils flaring as he takes a deep breath as he follows along side his best friend. Turning his cranium to glance fully at the tall black and white brute of a tom. A soft carefree smile escaping him as he listens to his friend’s hushed voice. “I’m not quite sure, I’m just surprised that Hornetstar wanted me to come along” he mutters back. Taking a quick glance over at Hornetstar, Waspstrike, Snappingfox, and Fearedjackal; his uncle. He really did not want any of them to hear him talking as he knew he would be scolded.
Ears perking up at the sound of birds chirping to one another, the soft melody calmed his raging nerves, but only slightly. Glancing down at his paws as he takes a hesitant step into uncharted territory; they were in Skyclan now. Even though he sensed that they weren’t there for a little greet and meet, he was still excited to see how those within Skyclan lived. Roachpaw had already seen and experienced the way Riverclan lived, guess it was time to see what Skyclan was up to. The sleek black tom was one of the last ones to slip into the clearing of Skyclan. His yellow sunflower eyes blinking at the brightness of the sun’s rays. His breath catching in his throat as he looks around, hiding the fact he was impressed with how the camp looked.
Tearing his gaze away from the Skyclanners to glance over at his leader. Pursing his lips as the golden leader of Shadowclan demands to speak to Firestar. ‘Just remain calm and silent. Let Hornetstar do the talking’ he silently reminded himself before steeling his emotions as he shuffled closer to Skunkpaw, letting their pelts brush against one another as he seeks comfort that his best friend was here with him.
Firestar ~Skyclan Leader
The tall broad fiery ginger tabby Maine Coon lays curled up in his nest. Though he was not sleeping, but simply laying there in silence. His mind working a million miles a minute as he tries to sort his thoughts. The last few days have been exhausting to him; both mentally and physically. The unexpected arrival of Wolfstar the other day had truly been unsettling, he wasn’t sure how to make of the cryptic message that Nettlenose had received. It was definitely unsettling to him and he was sure his ranks would agree with him. Since Wolfstar and Nettlenose’s departure, he hadn’t been sleeping well as dread clings to his pelt. Shifting his form to where he was laying on his back, his ember gaze flickering upwards to stare at the weather worn oaken ceiling. The leader had no energy to rise from his nest and socialize with his clan. He needed to figure out how they were all going to last the overly long leaf-bare. He had already told Rookfall to double the hunting patrols to hopefully cause their dwindling pile to prosper.
Sighing to himself, his ears twitching as he listens to the sound of his breathing. Just when he was getting more comfortable and ready to drift off, to allow for his mind to finally shut up. Yet; it would seem that everyone is against the leader as he suddenly heard a commotion outside his secluded den. Cursing to himself as he swiftly rolls out of his nest and onto his large paws. Rolling his shoulders before stretching out his long form. Closing his eyes briefly as he feels his muscles tense and a few bones pop along his spine. Shaking his fur out before stalking out of his den. His masculine features hardening in irritation that he couldn’t have a moment of peace without something going down. “Tsk” he clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth as his gaze instantly lands on the cocky form of Hornetstar. Barring his fangs at he also eyes the little entourage that stood behind the proud and unwelcome leader.
”While normally I would feel honored to have you in my presence” he calmly spoke, though his words held a tint of mocking as he settles down in the middle of the clearing. “I’m not really feeling it today—so could you just go back to where you came?” Firestar snarked with a smirk on his lips. “Oh and next time? Might want to bring more of your clan with ya if you are wanting to threaten or intimidate me” Firestar proudly states, his cool glare flickering over every individual shadowclan feline before letting his ember gaze rest upon Hornetstar once again.February 9, 2020 at 8:56 pm #5029
They didn’t have to wait very long at all, and the SkyClan leader was stepping from his den. At the less than welcomed greeting they received, Hornetstar flashed the other tom a smile – a cocky, insincere one, but a smile nonetheless. He glanced back at the patrol he had brought as the orange tabby deigned to imply they had came here to intimidate or threaten, finding he didn’t quite like Firestar’s implied threat of his own. It was rather bold of the other leader to assume the five cats he had brought with, including himself, couldn’t manage to hold their own until the opportunity to retreat presented itself. Though he would hate to leave her today with a loss, he’d rather leave with their lives and some bruised egos.
“Threatening us when we simply came here to talk, Firestar? How dishonorable,” he tsked, sneering at the slightly larger tom. Feeling like putting on a show, he circled about his patrol while glancing at the SkyClan cats gathered about and gawking, waiting to see what would happen. “All we came here to do was talk, I swear on my lives. It was such a long trip, and you’re already out here. Let me say what I need to, hm?” The golden tom had made a full circle, piercing green gaze once more settling on the other leader. This time his smile was leering, eyes as hard as rocks.
What he next had to say could very well start a fight, but this was all personally important to him now. He had a very personal stake in this war, and he was willing to go wherever he needed to in order to ensure he and… His investments were on the winning side. “Remember when not so very long ago SkyClan came running to ShadowClan territory seeking refuge from flooding? I know leading can be stressful, and that you weren’t leader back then so you probably didn’t care to remember what went down, but – I have an impeccable memory. SkyClan owes ShadowClan a debt,” he delivered with finality, raising his head even higher in a silent challenge. “I’m certain you heard of the fight that happened between ThunderClan and RiverClan. Ally with ShadowClan and RiverClan, and the debt shall be forgotten.”February 9, 2020 at 9:21 pm #5030RookfallParticipant
It was hard to miss the patrol of several warriors and apprentices that barged into camp like a troop of badgers. He had been speaking with a few warriors to assemble the next day’s patrols, heeding the idea of new border patrols after Wolfstar’s arrival. It didn’t seem to work, or rather SkyClan’s borders seemed to be ignored. It grated on his very nerves. Where Wolfstar had been respectful enough to bring Nettlenose, Hornetstar had arrived with a battalion, it seemed. How interesting that everyone just felt like they could intrude on SkyClan when they pleased. Loners, kittypets, WindClan, and now ShadowClan? This was getting mousebrained! The deputy narrowed his eyes at the ShadowClan leader, his chest burning with anger. He swallowed it down to approach coolly and stand beside his leader. The meticulously groomed tuxedo tom’s eyes rose to Hornetstar’s, his back straight and a rather annoyed scowl settled on his face.
He arrived only to hear the final statements of Hornetstar, but he could sense the animosity crackling between him and Firestar. Rookfall gestured to his patrol with a flick of his ears. “And are you coming to stay with us now, Hornetstar? I don’t see the need to bring half of your Clan into our territory to simply collect a debt.” His voice, which was almost always level and calm, reflected an aura of annoyance. He rose a brow at Firestar. It gesture was questioning, but the leader knew he would follow him to the end of the earth. Quietly, he uttered, “Will a fight with ThunderClan really benefit us?”
“Destiny isn't a path any cat follows blindly. It is always a matter of choice, and sometimes the heart speaks loudest. Listen to your heart, because that's where your true destiny lies.”

‘Ah yes, the debt…’ Snappingfox remembered the words Hornetstar had exchanged with Blazestar back during the flood. How interesting. He found his gaze resting on Rookfall, who he assumed to be SkyClan’s new deputy. The other toms seemed hesitant about Hornetstar’s offer, but Snappingfox felt as if he could sway their opinions. Perhaps this all didn’t have to end in violence, as he had assumed it would.
He cleared his throat before taking a small step forward, keeping his body and movements relaxed so no one would get the wrong idea. “My apologies for speaking out of turn, Hornetstar, but I have something to say, if I may.” Eloquence was never Snappingfox’s strong suit, but it was worth a shot. The young warrior spoke calmly, meeting the SkyClan leader’s gaze with no sense of tension or fear. “Its ThunderClan that wants a fight with SkyClan. I was at the gathering when that rogue was made ThunderClan’s deputy. I saw the way she disrespected you, Firestar. I saw the way she disrespected all of us, our traditions, and our ancestors. She’s taken the good, respectable position of clan deputy and made dirt all over it, like a kittypet in a box of gravel. If you and your clan side with us, you’ll be able to put her in her place once and for all. You’ll teach her a lesson she’ll never be able to forget. She’ll learn that she can respect our ways or get the hell out and never come back.” In truth, Snappingfox knew that the whole fiasco at the gathering was partially Firestar’s fault. However, that particular bit of information wouldn’t help his point, so he decided to simply not mention it. When he finished speaking, the young warrior dipped his head respectfully and stepped back into line, hoping Hornetstar would spare him his wrath once they returned to camp.February 10, 2020 at 12:12 pm #5041
Firestar ~Skyclan LeaderArching a brow as he watches Hornetstar with disdain. Oh how much he wished to knock that ignorant smirk off his face. How dare he waltz into his clan as if he lived and breathed Skyclan. Clenching his jaw to contain his rising anger, he was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing him unravel. Settling down on his hunches as he sensed that they were going to be here for a while. Back straightening as he listens to Hornet’s little mocking jab at him for assuming that they had came with ill intent. It took all in Firestar to not openly snort or roll his eyes at how absurd he sounded. He was not stupid enough to fall for his silver tongue, it was obvious that Hornetstar was not here for a little catch up. The golden furred tom was nothing more than a sly snake that knew how to get his way. Yet; he was surely in for a wake up call, as Firestar will not allow any clan to walk all over his Clan. He was in charge now and it was definitely going to be a change for the clans around him. Firestar was not one to idly stand by or to step down from the other clans. While Blazestar had been the type to settle things in a calmly matter—he was different.Licking his dry lips as boredom sets in as he watches Hornetstar and his flare for dramatics. Feeling the piercing green gaze of the other leader burning into his pelt, long tufted ears flicking slightly at the slippery tone of his ‘guest’. Seeing the cold smile thrown his way caused him to instantly grin cheekily back. ‘Well he certainly knows how to draw out a crowd’ he inwardly thought with a quiet huff escaping his parted lips. Though he certainly wanted to turn him away; to get rid of the annoying tom and his little group, he decided to let him have his little fun and spill what he wanted to say. After all; Firestar had to be careful on how he handles situations now, his clan depends on it. Though his curiosity also had to do with part of him remaining silent; he needed to know why Hornetstar was here, then and only then would he be able to decide how to get him to leave. He didn’t even realize his form was tense until Rookfall had padded up beside him. Just sensing his trusted deputy calmed him ever so slightly. Eyeing the black and white tuxedo in the corner of his eye before his attention is drawn back to the leader of Shadowclan. His voice was really starting to grate on his nerves, an impassive expression molds onto his masculine features as it is finally revealed as to why he was here. ‘Just all I need’ he groans inwardly.Deciding that he had sat and listened long enough to his endless chatter. Rising fully to his paws, stretching to his full intimidating height. There was no longer any amusement in his ember gaze as he stares down at Hornetstar. A cold laugh escaping his lips as he shakes his head slowly. “You definitely surprise me. Having the nerve to prance in here and demand my clan to stick their lives in danger. And for what? It is not Skyclan’s problem that Riverclan started a fight that seems like they can’t finish” smirking over at Hornetstar. Slowly making his way towards him, his paws crunching into the cold snow. His eyes narrowed into slits, tail flicking side to side.
“I very well remember what Blazestar had agreed to. Though you might not be able to tell; I know being a leader can be stressful—but…” he pauses for dramatic affect as he now stood a few fox lengths away from him. “I’m not Blazestar; I don’t remember making that promise” he sneers. It was his turn to talk; to take control. Hornetstar would just have to listen. Now if the golden brute had gone a different route on how to approach and ‘ask’ him for his clan’s assistance, Firestar would have been more easily persuaded due to his great dislike towards a certain Thunderclan Deputy. Now—well he was not going to back down to him nonetheless. Tilting his large cranium in a mocking manner as he pretends to observe the other leader.“Now what I really want to know is…why do you care so much in siding with Riverclan?” He mused with an arched brow. “I distinctly remember that you are the type to only care for your clan. What has you so interested or shall I say concerned about the well-being of Riverclan?” A chuckle escapes him, eyes blazing with amusement. “Oh…don’t tell me the cold leader of Shadowclan has grown soft…guess living with the fishy clan can do that to you” he trails off with a careless shrug.Tearing his piercing gaze away from Hornetstar as a new voice enters the conversation. Moving his cranium slightly to get a better look over the Shadowclan leader’s shoulder. Eyeing Snappingfox as he interrupts the tension between the two egotistical leaders. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, but nevertheless allows the Shadowclan Warrior to speak his thoughts. Cursing inwardly as the smart warrior brings up the great dislike he held for Kass; the rogue deputy. Yet; he made sure to show no outward emotion and indication that Snappingfox’s words sparked something within him.Firestar had already accounted for them to bring Kass up, but didn’t expected to be so soon. Stepping back away from the golden leader, moving around him slightly to eye Snappingfox full on. His cold gaze never leaving the young warrior; “While that may be true…Why should I send my warriors into battle over something as little as pride?” He wondered, he was truly asking, though by his tone one would think he was mocking the warrior. Firestar had to tread carefully, he couldn’t be the same reckless deputy that basically begged for confrontation with the rogue of Thunderclan. He was now leader, his actions affect his clan much more than it once did. “Though I so loved going down memory lane” he sarcastically smirked. “I think Skyclan will pass. This has nothing to do with us” Firestar strongly states as he makes his way back towards his deputy. Finally answering the black and white Tom’s question; “Fighting certainly won’t benefit us”February 10, 2020 at 3:17 pm #5053SaffieParticipant
Saffrongaze, settled with Speckledpaw yet again in their den, training her to be the next medicine cat. But, just as she was wrapping up the session, a loud and gruff voice cut into the silence of the clan. Her neck fur rose; she knew that voice. Her eyebrow knit and her expression changed to one she barely used; anger. “Stay here, Speckledpaw.” She demanded, cantering outside the den to see him; Hornetstar. Her prickled fur slid down to her upper back, making her way to Firestar’s side, glaring at the honey-wasp leader. She stayed silent for the most part, not wanting to intervene with Firestar and the leaders. She didn’t see Saplingskies; this wasn’t going to be a peaceful conversation. At least Wolfstar had enough dignity to bring his medicine cat. And just as she thought, Hornetstar came to cash in the debt he made during the flood. She let off a small ‘tsk’ as he said it. Her folded ear flicked; “Ha, of course..” She murmured.
After a chat and a hop, Firestar had decided to deny this. However, she was curious; Thunderclan and Riverclan, fighting. “Before you leave, Hornetstar. Why did the two clans clash int he first place? Was it because of Kass?” She inquired. “And I am just as curious; why help Riverclan? I’m surprised in you, Mr. Hornetstar- helping others. You must like Wisteriastar in some way, shape or form.” She said, quirking a small kittybrow.February 11, 2020 at 6:43 pm #5080
The golden tom watched with a disinterested expression as Rookfall made an appearance, snorting at the black and white tom. “Half of my Clan, Rookfall? Hardly. Besides, two of them are apprentices. Surely I would have chose more experienced warriors if I wished this to end in a fight,” he muttered, openly rolling his eyes at the deputy. Clearly he thought the two toms before him were ridiculous for even thinking this patrol Hornetstar had brought could pose a threat, or that he wished to intimidate the other Clan. Surprisingly, he had come her with a peaceful resolution in mind, at least physically. Verbal jabs on the other paw, were completely fair game.
His eyes narrowed slightly as Snappingfox stepped up to speak, his tongue holding it’s place even if he looked displeased with the young warrior. However, he was pleased with what the tom had to say, though he kept this from showing on his face. “Mhm, I should have known,” he sighed, shaking his head. “You aren’t honorable and clearly don’t care to uphold anything Blazestar had done. Me? I honor all of Marshstar’s memories and promises still. But, to each their own.” He shrugged a shoulder, gaze swinging to Saffrongaze she spoke up from nowhere. He recalled her from the storm incident, his disdained for her openly showing on his face.
“Kass’ scent was around a dead fish on RiverClan territory. RiverClan went to peaceably talk to Hollystar about it, and it all ended in a battle. My reasons for investment in the situation are just that, mine. Though you all need to ask yourselves, how much longer until Kass’ scent is found inside your borders, are dead prey that should have been your Clans? How much longer until she ends up leader, and is encouraging ThunderClan cats to break the code left and right? We all saw at the Gathering just how little all of our ways mean to her,” he warned, gaze lingering on the three SkyClan ranks before he turned back to face his patrol. With a flick of his tail, he exited SkyClan camp, trusting his patrol to follow.February 13, 2020 at 11:49 pm #5113
Firestar ~Skyclan Leader
Turning his large cranium ever so slightly in Saffrongaze’s direction, ears flickering as he listens quietly to her words as she addresses Hornetstar. The leader had easily brushed off Hornetstar’s obvious jab at him, ignoring the taunting towards him not being an honorable leader. Firestar did not give a damn on being honorable at this moment, he had to think about what was best for his clan, not upholding a promise that he; himself never made. ‘If he really wanted that debt for-filled, he should have cashed it in sooner’ he thought with a huff as he briefly thinks back to Blazestar’s ‘disappearance’.
Just hearing the name Kass makes his blood boil, yet he never let his obvious dislike reach his facial expressions. Even though many knew of their little tumble off the boulder; he didn’t want Hornetstar to know that he agreed wholeheartedly with his words. Firestar didn’t want the Shadowclan leader’s head to get any bigger than it already was. He had nothing more to say, though it pained him to let the golden leader have the final word. His piercing gaze following after the Shadowclan patrol with slight interest with a frown upon his lips.
Just when they were about to disappear into the dense birch forest, he couldn’t help but sarcastic call out; “What? No goodbye?” An arched brow and a smirk thrown in their direction before turning to Rookfall and Saffrongaze. His mind was reeling; he did not like the position they were in. It was either they ‘obey’ his request and join Shadowclan and Riverclan against Thunderclan or stay out of the fight and hope that Skyclan doesn’t have to get involved. Firestar groans quietly to himself, he could already feel the stress building up. Though with the tension was also hatred towards Hornetstar. How dare he put him and his clan in such a tight position.
