The moors were silent, blanketed in peaceful, untouched snow, the stars seemingly falling from the skies in the form of snowflakes. Placed almost too perfectly in the middle was a smooth slated stone, the area around it bright and colorful. Upon the rock sat a tall silhouette, muscles rippled under their gray and white pelt, blue eyes lighting up at the sight of such a feline. Wolfstar! Black paws stumbled throughout the white blanket, destroying the freshly packed snow. Puffs of air visible as she cold air stung her nose forcing her way through the weather towards her mentor. “I knew it! I knew you weren’t really dead.” Nectarpaw barreled into the grey pelted leader. His body effortlessly falling under her pressure, his body feeling cold as the stone they sat on, it wasn’t normal. Maybe he’s just cold. Moving off his body Nectarpaw gently prodded his side, “Come on Wolfstar its cold lets get back to camp.” Her words trying to softly encourage him to get up. Her paw sliding under his, pulling it up. His paw fell back down the moment she moved hers, “…Wolfstar.” she mewed silently. Making her way up towards his face, her paw moving his face to where she could now see it. His eyes were glossed over with a deep haze. With a loud yowl the molly threw herself backwards away from him.

“Wolfstar!” Awaking in a pant Nectarpaw frantically looked around her surroundings trying to find out where she was now. Recognizing  her fellow apprentices her nerves calmed themselves enough for her to realize it was all just a bad dream. Nectarpaw silently prayed no one woke up due to her outburst, luckily only hearing a few rustling nests before the den fell silent again. I dont wanna sleep again… Pulling herself to her paws the molly stalked through the den, careful to watch her paws from stepping on any of her clan mates. The familiar pelt of her best friend entering her eye line, a wave of relief washing over her at the sight of him, Breezepaw.

Nectarpaw found comfort in her friend, knowing that he also probably needed comfort of his own, perhaps she could be that for him like he was for her. She showed no hesitation when she sauntered into his nest, her muzzle bumping into his neck, “Breezepaw” Her voice was hushed as she tried to make sure not to wake any other apprentices. “Wake up…please.” While her excuse was she was going to be his comfort, her face gave away all the information the tom needed. If her face didn’t give away her fear, then her trembling paws surely would.

    Breezepaw ~ WindClan Apprentice

Sleep wasn’t exactly the easiest thing for this young tomcat, his chin was rested against the soft edge of his moss nest, grass green eyes staring at the dirt wall of the den. Usually he liked to sleep outside but with the snow lightly falling from the sky he was staying to the den in order to keep warm and dry. Pink nostrils flared softly as he let out a soft sigh, it had only been a few days since they had buried Wolfstar but it felt like a lifetime ago. His mother had since given birth to a beautiful and healthy litter of five kittens, all resembling Wolfstar in small ways. Desertrose was now Desertstar and it suited her, she was a great leader, pulling everyone together in their time of grief. Hailgaze was now deputy and he was proud of his older brother, the Tom made him feel safe and respected him for it. Slowly he closed his eyes but sleep still wouldn’t come to him, simply bothered with the fact that his father was really gone, his mother was depressed and his new brothers and sisters wouldn’t ever get to meet their father. It wasn’t something easy to simply forget.

He felt his nest stir but he simply figured it was someone leaving the den or kicking from their nest. But it wasn’t until he felt a muzzle press into his neck as someone nudged him and a familiar soft voice reached his ears, causing an ear to flick. Tired green eyes opened immediately as he turned his head to look at his friend, Nectarpaw. His heart skipped a beat every time he saw the lovely she-cat, her eyes appeared troubled tonight and he could hear the desperation in her voice for him to wake up. Grass green eyes searched her face for a moment, he could see fear in her eyes and her trembling paws were shaking his nest. Grunting the tall and slim tomcat shifted in his nest, his dark grey and white pelt resembling the late Wolfstar as he moved over to give Nectarpaw more room. “Lay down. There’s plenty of room.” Breezepaw’s voice was thick with sleep but he hadn’t actually been asleep, his smile tender and welcoming as Nectarpaw didn’t hesitate to lay down beside of him and curl up against his side. That oddly…. felt right.

Purring softly in order to comfort his friend, he gently licked her shoulder blade and sighed softly as he looked at her. “Are you okay? You seem shaken up.” He whispered softly, licking her forehead as he wanted her to calm down. He would keep her safe no matter what! She was his best friend, and deep down his skipping heart and fluttering stomach meant something more. Smiling he leaned forehead to press his nose against her cheek, closing his eyes and breathing softly as she was also his comfort. His smile disappearing for a moment as he just rested there, slowly dropping his nose from her cheek and licking her shoulder blade again in comfort. “Get some sleep. It’s pretty late.” He whispered gently as he turned his chin and gazed out of the den, light dusting of snow was falling from the sky, causing him to huff before he looked back at Nectarpaw. StarClan… she was so beautiful.

Nectarpaw tried to stifle her sniffle, fighting back every urge to wail as she fell into Breezepaws nest, her long limbs curling up as much as they could and she pressed herself as deep against the grey and white tom cat as she could. His voice deeply rumbling in her ear, even through her distressed state his words, so thick with sleep, sent a surge down her spine. He was so comforting to her. Turning her muzzle up to the tom cats, giving Breezepaws muzzle a small lick, “I love you loser.” This dumb tom was her best friend, she loved him more than anyone else in Windclan, he was always there for her and even know when surely he was going through his own issues dealing with the death of his father, he still accepted her and was trying his best to be her comfort.

“Im not okay…”Her voice choking up as she went into vivid details about what she saw in her dream, feeling her whole body start to tremble the longer she went on. “I’m sorry Breezey. I know this must be harder on you but here I am being a mess.”  Feeling his cool nose against her dampened cheek fur, falling to her shoulder. Nectarpaw licked his ear, her muzzle resting by it for a moment, “Are you sure you want me to stay?” Her voice even quieter than before. She knew apprentices would talk, the last thing she wanted was her friend getting teased at such a weak moment for being so kind to her.

    Breezepaw ~ WindClan Apprentice

He would be lying if he wasn’t suddenly conscious of the way Nectarpaw was pressing up against him, and although it was her that was seeking out the comfort of a friend.. he was eating it up. The death of his father had been affecting him badly and having the warmth of someone beside him right now seemed to ease his pain, of not just a little bit. Exhaustion was hanging over his pelt like a thick blanket, he hadn’t been sleeping well and although he hadn’t been sleeping when Nectarpaw had gotten his attention, he felt wary as he gazed down at the she-cat. She was troubled and very upset, Wolfstar’s death had affected everyone, not just him. He blinked slowly for a moment when she lifted her muzzle and gave his own muzzle a light lick, the affection was odd but he said nothing about it. Ears suddenly burning when she muttered that she loved him, causing him to chuckle as his ears fell back against his skull. “We both know you don’t mean it.” He teased softly, his grass green eyes searching her facial expression as she seemed to calm down ever so slightly.

But he could hear that she wasn’t okay, frowning softly as she admitted that she wasn’t okay, even going into detail about her dreams. Sighing softly as he exhaled the breath that he had been holding, his eyes softening and his gaze falling down towards the ground as he considered her dream. “It’s okay to be upset, Nectarpaw. He was your mentor.” Breezepaw said softly, biting at his lower lip as he gazed towards the falling snow that was drifting from the sky, his eyes blank for a moment. He dreamt of his father at times as well, but he never could reach the tomcat, instead Wolfstar would disappear right before him and Hailgaze would soon appear to scold him for running across the border. But Nectarpaw didn’t need to know that, she had her own issues happening. “You don’t need to apologize to me, I understand your pain.” He whispered softly so they didn’t wake up any of the other apprentices, his chin turning towards her as he placed his chin upon her shoulder blade, his ears laying flat against the top of his head as she licked his ear.

Nectarpaw’s question seemed to bother him as his brows furrowed together before he turned his chin and gazed briefly throughout the den as he watched the other sleeping bodies, one even belonging to his sister, Heatherpaw. He didn’t give a damn who saw them, truth was he held feelings for Nectarpaw and wouldn’t mind the rumors. “Don’t you worry about them.” He said softly, turning his chin back towards his best friend and giving her a small smile as he lightly rubbed his snout against the top of her head. “Relax and get some sleep, I’ll chase the bad dreams away.” He promised softly as he then lifted his chin and turned his cheek away from her, his blank eyes gazing out of the den as he watched the snow fall in a hazy manner. “The rumors about me will be worse than this.” He smiled softly in reassurance. Even know there were cats that were questioning the sanity of Wolfstar’s children, they even questioned their own deputy, worried about the spawn of their late leader. Would his children also be insane? Breezepaw shook his head of his thoughts, clearing his throat for a moment before he looked back down at Nectarpaw and gave a small smile before he lowered his chin and placed it upon the curve of his back, closing his eyes with a deep inhale. “Maybe you can help chase away my dreams too.” He whispered faintly, his forepaw shifting to lightly touch her much smaller black paw.
